Out as the label's second ever release as HDL002 comes the self-titled EP from German producer Headless Horseman. With two aptly titled originals Graveyard and Decapitation , it's only appropriate to include an acid warehouse beast in the way of British producer Perc's remix of Graveyard. If you're a techno/acid head this for you! In the pretty hilarious words of Beatport: "If you look into the night sky you can see a shadow of the Headless Horseman and his steel. This time around he has taken Perc prisoner in the Graveyard. As we know, [...]

Up until last week I hadn't heard of HORSEMANNING (I was late to planking and owling too). So, for those of you (like me) who are new to this, Horsemanning is the art of posing for a photo in the style of a fake beheading. It's a fairly new internet craze that 'supposedly' harks back to a popular way of posing for photographs in the 1920s. The 19202s stuff is probably bullshit to be honest but the name definitely derives from [...]

words and photos by @bachelrachel Another solid evening of bleepy bloops and poly-synth arrangements at the Glasslands folks, last Wednesday night I caught Nite Jewel headlining the night away with Warm Ghost, Headless Horseman, and Caged Animals! Warm Ghost is the gothic synth-pop concoction of Brooklyn's Paul Duncan, whose commanding stature is equaled by his dynamic vocal range, oscillating between impressive bellows and gossamer croons. Accompanied by three impressive multi-instrumentalists, tall Paul and his [...]

So I just heard about @showsketcher a few days ago from Yours Truly, she's a talented little chick who live sketches shows...with crayon. Yeah you like that idea too, don't you? via The Morning After Pills , she was at Glasslands for Nite Jewel last night, working some crayola magic on the bill. There are more sketches from the show so make sure you check out her full site and follow her on twitter ! Nite Jewel // Warm Ghost // Headless Horseman // Caged Animals

words and pictures by @braidofsmoke So I only have one thing to say about our CMJ party with MTV Hive's Weird Vibes at Cameo last night: AMAZING! Thanks so much to the folks who came out to hear some sick tunes and dance their asses off. Everyone was so pumped that they took their groovin' down into the Bedford Ave station with them! Our killer line-up for the night was Keepaway, Pat Jordache, Millionyoung, Headless Horseman, and [...]
Six Artists Not To Miss 1. Radiation City We've spotlighted Radiation City before here on MOKB , but with them playing over six shows at CMJ , there's really no excuse for festival-goers to miss out on them. The Portland-based group's full-length debut, The Hands That Take You , is full of lovely indie-pop reminiscent of the soulful and playful girl groups of the '60s. 10/19 @ Pianos [1pm] 10/19 @ Living Room [4pm] 10/20 @ Pete's Candy Store [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Lauren Dukoff Yep, it's time for CMJ , aka five nights of running -- or stumbling, on occasion -- around New York City, bouncing from show to show and most likely staying up way too late. We've brought you 78 free MP3s and a 101-song Spotify playlist , and now here's our list of bands we'll be checking out this week, even if it means cutting you [...]
![10 BANDS TO WATCH [CMJ 2011]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3796538_lg.jpg)
The CMJ Music Marathon roster is always wonderfully diverse, filled with wildly popular acts at the height of their careers as well as unknown bands on the brink of making it. Here are our picks for the most promising bands that may not be too familiar now, but definitely will be after this week. Illustration credit: Derek Eads I’m not sure how Caveman are going to survive this week - they seem to be playing every single showcase [...]

Tweet Next week, from October 18th-22nd the annual CMJ music festival is taking place in New York City, and it's widely regarded as one of the best and most comprehensive independent music festival around. Hundreds of artists playing at a multitude of venues all across the city, many shows free, many shows all ages, make for an excellent week of music consumption. There's also a technology presence at the festival, focusing on music and the ways that technology is shaping and changing the ways [...]

Nite Jewel is such a well-tailored moniker for LA based synth fetishist Ramona Gonzalez and her dark gem hued disco pop. Not that it's all in a name, Gonzalez, who counts multi-media artist and a degree in Philosophy among her many accomplishments, is a musician who really exudes cohesion and consistency-characteristi cs that reflect a real self-cultivated point of view. Since spearheading the project a few years ago as a solo act, Nite Jewel morphed into a trio, ratcheting up the production with some studio time for their forthcoming record. The Secretly Canadian signed project recently shared the [...]

Hank, Pierce, and I are very excited to announce WLFY's CMJ 2011 Day Party at Pianos on Wednesday October 19th. One of the cool things about space is how everything is floating all over the place. There is no gravity and you're simply weighed down by nothing, nothing at all. Now picture yourself in space with different genres of music floating all around you and no restrictions to what you can do with it. This bazaar vision is what Korea In The Space is all about. Korea In The Space are 3 college students who got their name through a misheard lyric in a Quasimoto song. They've been friends since high school and their music productions [...]

Fareed Sajan and Conner O'Neill of Headless Horseman have two new remixes out now that steer clear of the dance clubs. The first one, "Handstands", brilliantly mixes Chairlift's "Bruises" and the Chordette's classic tune, "Mr. Sandman", starting with strong electronics and percussion and weaving into old-timey, doo-whop beats. The second mix is that of French vocalist Etyl's "J'ME FAIS MAL" and conjures up a thicker atmosphere of eer...
