Dinner's served! What do you mean you're not hungy?! FOE - A Handsome Stranger Called Death Everyone loves a pop-tastic caricature. So its convenient that FOE was selected to make the big time in 2012 by The Music Fix . She's either a. an attention seeker who's chosen to be a bit dark and morbid, or b. a bit mental. Not mutually exclusive, I guess. But either way, her thing is singing morbid lyrics with an attitude-drenched voice, accompanied by lively percussion. Which wasn't what you were [...]
Tie for first place this week. The rainbow light in Lightships' memories is equivalent to the fantastic art directions of Sweden's Heart-Sick Groans. Chairlift continues to be fantastic and La Sera continues to be hot. Belle And Sebastian have a new/kinda neat video and the Veronica Falls will blow your gourd. -Matt

Some month ago Heart-Sick Groans released their third EP, "Look!!! These Three Painters of Hits Have Done It Again!". It was about a year ago we wrote about their last EP , and since then, the singer Johan Brännström , also has released his own music. To some extent this EP sounds differently, since there is a certain Hawaii-feeling in several of the songs, but in the end I recognize their uplifting, light indie pop and hooky melodies. Listen here below in a couple of tracks. You can listen to the EP [...]

Heart-Sick Groans - With Samantha From The Car Wash Heart-Sick Groans are one of indie-pop's best kept secrets. Since 2008, the Swedish trio has been churning out utterly addictive ear candy that would sound at home wedged between The Magnetic Fields and Belle & Sebastian on your favorite playlist. And it should come as a surprise to no one-except for those folks who have been ignoring them all these years*-that they're doing it again on their conveniently titled third release, Look!!! These Painters of Hits Have [...]

Tweet Johan Brännström , the singer in Sweden's Heart-Sick Groans has released a new free EP on Bandcamp today. Brännström gives us 4 really good acoustic pop songs, slightly different than what he usually do in his main band. His warm voice combined with the acoustic instruments reminds me a bit of artists like Ron Sexsmith or Martin Stephenson, both personal favourites of mine. "Annabella" and "Just Another June" are the highlights for me on a strong 4 track EP. [...]
Band Bios: Dusty Monroe | Heart-Sick Groans Dusty Monroe "Dusty Monroe is the new fresh electro pop artist in Sweden. From the minimalistic to the bigger productions, he make his own unique sound." Says his bio. He's based in Stockholm (hails from north Sweden), has previously shared stage with Paola, Kleerup and Sofia Talvik, and [...]
Heart-Sick Groans put a smile to many faces a little more than a year ago, also here on Meadowmusic . Now they are here again with the EP "Gentlemen, If You Ain't Right, Get Right!", and this at a time that fits the music even better. Cause it feels vernal, maybe even summerish from their nice and special folk-indie. You can listen to and download the EP on their Bandcamp page . Here are a couple of songs: Streetlight Chase You Look Like Rain

The fine Swedish pop-trio Heart-Sick Groans have finally released another EP, "Gentlemen, if you ain't right, get right!" . We've enjoyed their debut-ep "Oh, I can do a number of things" for some time now, and we are very happy about this new release. The EP features 7 really good songs, - where the amazing opener "Three Day Blow" is my favourite. It may in fact be my absolute favourite HSG song so far. The band has a very unique sound, where they manage to combine the ultra-catchy pop-tunes with weird and unusual [...]
Sweden's Heart-Sick Groans has made a new video, and what a lovely video it is! The song in this video is "Three Day Blow" from Heart-Sick Groans upcoming release, the seven song EP "Gentlemen, If you aint right, get right" . It's directed by Henric Wallmark , - one of the members in the band. Drawn, cut-out and performed by Mads Peter Brandstrup Jensen's class at the Drawing Academy at the Animation Workshop, Viborg, Denmark. Enjoy!

We're close to summer, and I will use this chance to recommend an old compilation we made a year ago, – our first Eardrums compilation. If you haven't got it already, get yourself over to our label-site at www.eardrumspop.com and get "Summer's here!" , our summer compilation from last year. Over 40 pop songs, perfect for lazy summer days in the sun! Free and legal, of course. You should also get the other compilations, if you haven't got them (The most recent one was this year's spring compilation"Birdsongs, Beesongs" and we [...]
The first few tracks definitely have some unusual elements in them but keep an open mind and I think you'll enjoy. They all have good beats. Then we get some sticky sweet pop sounds (mostly from Sweden) and then the mix finishes with some dance/club sounds (kinda par for the course). Let's call this picture, Mirror Lake. Eagles of Death [...]

Here's some music that hopefully puts you in a good mood. Don't get fool by the name Heart-Sick Groans, because the ambience is just opposite of what could be expected. Fun. This is happy indie pop with folk influences. Imaginative, playful and mostly acoustic arrangements, with a violin, with tasteful effects and nice harmonies that are laid out in the best Beautiful South manner. Earlier this year they released the EP "Oh, I Can Do a Number of Things", and you can listen to a song from the EP below, "The Season For Us". [...]
With the summer coming to a true end (unlike that bogus Labor Day end of summer crap) this weekend I find it fitting that I come across some of the most summer like indie-pop I have heard all year! Timing, they say, is everything after all. But never mind the poor timing on my hearing this lovely, heartfelt, sugary sweet music, it is a blessing that I have heard it at all as these Swedes have yet

Let's get one thing out in the open. Am I good or am I good? Seriously. Listen to this new song from Heart Sick Groans and then answer that question. This multi-layered bit of pop with it's interwoven vocals, odd percussion, and heartfelt crooning is a great addition to the just slightly emo Swedish indie pop scene (Loney Dear, Jens Lekman, Pelle Carleberg). Is this your new favorite band, or what? (Do you like this new conversational style? Just saw a documentary on Hunter S. Thompson so I thought I'd throw myself [...]
