The Heartless Bastards' Erika Wennerstrom has an unmistakable voice. It's a big, brassy voice. One which conveys the power of a woman who's seen plenty of hard times, and rocked them all. It's not a perfect voice in the American Idol sense, I'm pretty sure it's flat and a bit pitchy, yet, if we're talking about raw power, she has few rivals in modern rock music. Indie/shoegaze(?)/alternative and just good old fashioned good garage-rock tunes with a little reverb thrown in for good measure - I'm in heaven. You know that kind of music just makes me happy. Cincinnati's Heartless Bastards are all set to release their third album, The Mountain , on February 3rd via Fat Possum Records . The album is said to have the powerful howl that fans expect from the Heartless Bastards, but also weaves in mandolins, banjos, and strings. We've had a lot of people hitting the site looking to find Heartless Bastards tour dates. Well, good news for you is that the band has scheduled some December show dates. Bad news is that they're pretty much all just in Ohio so if you don't share a home state with Heartless Bastards, you'll be out of luck until 2009 when they'll be touring in support of their new release, The Mountain , which is coming out on February 3rd. As you may know, I go see a lot of live music. And tonight was something really special. Walk through walls and bribe public officials to get to the next Heartless Bastards show. The lead singer, Erika, has such an amazing voice and its a power trio and i just can't write anything that would be sufficient. it would just be dancing about architecture.
