The Walkmen- formed waaay back in 2000- are one of New York's most beloved indie rock bands, and they just keep on truckin' with an upcoming seventh album, Heaven . Many are calling it their best work yet, but before you give the whole thing a listen, give the Heaven single a go. Lovely and melodic, Heaven is a sweet slice of what's to come on the full-length LP. There's a newfound grace, maturity, and sort of a longing in Hamilton Leithauser's voice as he sings, "Remember, remember/All we fight for." It's the Walkmen, all [...]

The Walkmen's seventh album, Heaven , is now streaming in its entirety the week before it releases (May 29th). Listen to the full album at the link below. Read more »

A bateria marcial e violenta continua.
When The Walkmen dropped their last album "Lisbon" in 2010 I was pretty excited by the singles they dropped before its release, and then when I listened to the album as a whole it left me underwhelmed, though I seemed to be in the minority on that one. That's cool, though. I just went back to listening to "Bows + Arrows" and "You And Me" . Things are different this time around, however. We've heard four songs from the album in the last few weeks, those being [...]

It's around this same time every year that I look at the movie calendar with Memorial Day coming up in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the summer blockbuster of yesteryear was plentiful. However, due to a creative outage in Hollywood, we're stuck with getting movie reboots and/or movie spinoffs of boardgames I use to play when I was a kid. "Battleship?" Seriously? As much eye candy as Rihanna provides, I'm not sure I could even waste $1.29 at the Redbox to see how bad that movie is waiting to suck. It's quite possible that the movie may [...]

More new Walkmen . Unfortunately, "The House You Made' is only a B-side and did not make the final cut for Heaven. It's a slow burner, that Hamilton's powers through with his usual tremendous vocals. This family love is becoming quite a nice and mature theme from the band. Heaven will be out May 29th through Fat Possum.

The Walkmen released a non-album track as the b-side to first single "Heaven" this week, and it's gorgeous. Leithauser's vocals move at a leisurely pace through inherited memories towards that damn build in the final minute that renders the last arc of the song completely afloat. The album is out May 29 on Fat Possum .

In the anticipation of their seventh studio album, Heaven , The Walkmen have released a fair bit of new retail recently. We've heard: Heaven Heartbreaker We Can't Be Beat The first of them, 'Heaven', has this little beauty as its b-side. A slow-burning ballad, it showcases Hamilton Leithauser's wonderful vocal. With less fuzz put onto his voice you get to hear him really sing. It's rather good.

The Walkmen 's latest album titled Heaven will be released on 6/5 via Fat Possum . Despite their hit or miss sound, one that we cannot completely sip on for a full hour, their latest track "Heaven" certainly gives a glimpse of it. It would be an understatement to say The Walkmen have certainly flown under the radar since 2002, slowly crafting their own sound and quietly slipping into everyone's back pockets only to realize, "Oh yeah, I love these guys." Although their style and intangibility to pop and mainstream indie listeners is [...]
Listen to The Walkmen 's new song "The House You Made" below, from their album "Heaven" . It's curious to me that in the space of four weeks we've now heard four new songs from The Walkmen's upcoming album "Heaven". To count, we've heard "We Can't Be Beat" , "Heartbreaker" , and title track "Heaven" . It's curious because it's not often that we get this kind of output in the run-up [...]

The Walkmen 's excellent new full-length Heaven officially drops two weeks from today on Fat Possum . In anticipation of the record's release, the group has hooked us up with 5 band-signed copies of their limited Heaven 73 single, which - in addition to the rousing title track - features the moving non-album b-side " The House You Made ." Listen to the yearning, beautifully crescendoing ballad below, and leave your name + your favorite Walkmen song in the comments to [...]
In describing his band's forthcoming album Heaven, Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser has promised a record documenting the band's maturation and a "bigger, more generous statement." With "We Can't Be Beat" the band seems to be delivering just that. The song begins with a mesmerizing and soothing fingerpicked guitar coupled with Leithauser's equally languid vocals. Fabulous vocal harmonies join in soon after giving the track another fantastic layer of detail, growing more powerful around the midpoint of the song. It is at this point where the song masterfully changes form into something a bit punchier but equally pleasant. You [...]

It seems that a majority of bands are realizing that building up anticipation for an upcoming release is about more than just sending out new tour dates and 30 seconds clips but that fans want to hear full length tracks and as many of them as possible before release day. The Walkmen have taken this same path and so far we've heard 3 tracks off of Heaven . The title track was an upbeat track that grabbed hold on the first note and didn't let go until the final chord while "Heartbreaker" and a definitive throw back [...]

Its true, they can't. "We Can't Be Beat" is the lead track from the Walkmen 's upcoming album Heaven, on May 29th.The record is the band's sixth and was produced by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Shins, Band of Horses). Pre-order the album at their website .

Philly/NYC quintet The Walkmen recently released the title track off their upcoming album Heaven a week earlier than originally scheduled. Now the band has released another cut off the album, "We Can't Be Beat." If the song is any indication of Heaven 's direction, its title could not be more accurate. "We Can't Be Beat" starts with a slow, acoustic guitar melody, frontman Hamilton Leithauser's distinctively sonorous vocals and soft vocal harmonies from the rest of the band, setting the tone for some decidedly reminiscent [...]

Vamos lá, sem perder as contas: do novo álbum do The Walkmen , Heaven , que será lançado no dia 29 de maio, nós já ouvimos a faixa que dá nome ao disco , Heartbreaker , e Southern Heart . Agora, a quarta faixa é We Can't Be Beat , uma deliciosa canção acústica, com violão crescentes, e muito "ôôô" pra galera cantar junto. Grandes expectativas com esse lançamento!

We've already heard quite a few cuts from The Walkmen's upcoming 7th album, Heaven , which is due out in June. And now we have another. Not that we're complaining. 'We Can't Be Beat' is a lovely acoustic lament that builds into a warm-hearted foot-stomper in its closing stages. When describing Heaven , singer Hamilton Leithauser says: "The detachment you can feel throughout our younger records is gone. We felt like it was time to make a bigger, more generous statement." Hurry up June the 4th.
'We Can't Be Beat' is taken from The Walkmen's forthcoming album Heaven, out in Ireland on May 25. The band today announced an Irish date at Vicar Street on October 29. Tickets, priced €26 (plus TM fees) go on sale Friday.
