Nashville, TN's own Heavy Cream has a new LP out right now on Jeffbro 's Infinity Cat Recordings . The record is entitled Super Treatment , and doesn't have a song longer than three minutes on it. Super Treatment was produced by Mr. Ty Segall (a man who knows a thing or two about distortion and fuzz), who able to capture the insane energy of Heavy Cream 's live show. This right here is the first single from Super Treatment . Listen. Downloadable: [...]

We've had seven sunny weekends in a row, which must be some kind of record for the Northwest. As such, it's been the perfect time to take out the Bimmer. And in related news, Andi's dad thought it would be a fun project to spend a weekend sanding it down and giving it a new paint job. Score. Now on to music: Stuarto, the host leading into my 10pm Friday night show at KSVR and KSVU, and I have been concocting plans. These brief quarter-hour strategy sessions that take place [...]

On Silversun Pickups 's latest and third album, the LA band shaves the fuzz of their guitars in favor of a more brooding, heavily electronic sound. You can pick up Neck of the Woods and a handful of other new albums out this week, including the second studio album from Kingston, Ontario duo PS I Love You , which according to our Music Director, Don Yates, is another impressive blend of energetic post-punk and anthemic garage-rock with loud, ringing guitars, muscular rhythms, yelping vocals and punchy song hooks." For a taste of their rocking sound, check [...]

Heavy Cream - "John Johnny" With Edmund, there is a cat. It is not his cat, but it is often in his house, he often leaves food out for it, in warm months they make eye contact while it walks on top the fence, they are connected. Technically, legally, it is his neighbour John Johnny's cat, but in reality, the kind of reality that doesn't exist in courtrooms, but rather face-to-face-this-is-it-no-one 's-watching, it is no one's cat. It is orange, short-haired, confident, and dusty. It does not hesitate the way some cats [...]

Nashville, Tennessee band Heavy Cream are veterans of their city's local music scene, regularly playing basement shows around town over the past few years, and touring the country often. Heavy Cream are three girls and one male bass player (reverse the patriarchy!) and their live shows are known for being rambunctious and rowdy. On May 8th they will release their second album, Super Treatment, on Infinity Cat Recordings, the label run by Nashville's own JEFF the Brotherhood....

Everyone always fawns over the Kills , and rightly so, but I've recently come across something that's just a little bit better, just a touch dirtier. Heavy Cream 's part of the blossoming Nashville scene that's blowing up at the moment, and I'm really digging this track. It's got the balls you want from a female-led band, offering sex appeal, brattiness and killer riffs to go along. If you're digging what you hear, you'll be able to find this song along with others when the band release their new record, Super [...]

by Bill Pearis DOWNLOAD : Heavy Cream - John Johnny (MP3) Heavy Cream Nashville's Heavy Cream are opening tonight's Hunx show at Mercury Lounge. While ex-White Stripes man, Jack White, and Akron transplants, The Black Keys, may be making most, if not all of the headlines coming out of the Nashville rock scene these days, when you dig a little deeper you'll find an eager gang of younger bands also putting their stamp on the sounds of rock gone by. There's, Jeff the Brotherhood , a duo who have been featured on these pages multiple times, who've shown themselves quite adept at slacker rock, power pop, grunge, metal, garage rock and pretty much every other fist-raising sub genre in the Rock [...]

Dntel – Bright Night [mp3] (from Aimlessness , out June 5 th ) Electronic artist and producer Jimmy Tamborello continues to deconstruct and reassemble music and beats to the delight of weirdoes and iconoclasts (myself included). His music as Dntel is very different from The Postal Service collective (with Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie ), but could still win over some converts of conventional electro-pop. Volcanoes [...]

There's very little about Heavy Cream's sophomore album Super Treatment that doesn't shake you like a kick to the clavicle. The Ty Segall produced album barrels out of your speakers like a sweat soaked tsunami and doesn't let up the pace once over its scant 26 minutes. Heirs apparent to the Runaways' toughened leather licks and rolled in cat-scratched wails that bring to mind fellow Nashville alums Be Your Own Pet's impetuous howl; Super Treatmemt tears doors down like a women's prison riot in 104 degree heat. The blink and its over pace would be the [...]
