In my opinion, the best part about hip-hop today is that more artists are starting to incorporate actual musicians into their work. However, Heiruspecs has been doing it this way for as long as they can remember - no computerized beats necessary except the little help from a drum machine on Peter Leggett 's kit. For the third year in a row Heiruspecs are helping to sponsor a scholarship with their alma mater, St. Paul Central Senior High, to help send worthy high school graduates to college to pursue a degree in fine arts. So far the band has raised $6,000 to distribute to worthy applicants. In the past two years, the band has hosted a scholarship fundraiser concert at Central. This year, they're moving the show to a live venue, but still keeping it in the neighborhood. On Saturday, April 7, Heiruspecs will perform back-to-back shows at the Turf Club. [...]

I wrote about Dre Day 2012 when it was first announced that the party would be headlined by the LBC Drama Club. At the time there was a bit of uncertainty about who the LBC Drama Club is, but recently Twinkie Jiggles of Heiruspecs shared this Dre Day rehearsal video that clears things up and gives us a preview of what to expect from the night. Last year's Dre Day with Heiruspecs headlining was a party for the ages. This one should be just as good. Some of the Get Cryphy crew will be spinning to start things off. Felix of Heiruspecs is hosting the event, and this year's headliner is The LBC Drama Club (featuring members of Heiruspecs). Not sure what that means, but it sounds like fun. The first installment of SoundTown Music Festival in Somerset, WI, had a lot riding on the shoulders of 2,500 attendees. The new management of the former Float-Rite Park Amphitheater tried to revamp the arena's image after years of Ozzfest-induced damage to the grounds and its reputation in the town of Somerset. 11th hour awesome concert announcement: Heiruspecs are performing TONIGHT at 10pm at the Aster Cafe in Minneapolis. It will be a special show, the band is debuting two new songs from their upcoming album (working title: We are the Future and We Know It ). They are also performing some throwback gems, as well as reworked versions of the usual classics we have known to expect and love at Heiruspecs shows. If you can make it to this show, you should go.

I know Sims is unfortunately throwing his album release party the same night, but you can catch me at the Triple Rock celebrating Dre Day with Heiruspecs on Saturday, February 19.

I'm very excited for this album to be released. Should be one of 2011's local highlights.
