After a series of nine bombastic performances during SXSW this past week in Austin, pseudo industrial hip hop experimentalists Death Grips debut their new video for the single "Lock Your Doors No Hands No 63. For those unfamiliar, Sacramento's Death Grips is hands down the most unique thing to come out of noise or rap in recent years. No one, myself included, really has any idea what to call them other than, well, Death Grips. "Lock Your Doors" comes from the group's independent full length "No Love Deep Web", which was originally slated for [...]

We're all big fans of the more established acts out there, but some of the most exciting music being made today is produced by DIY artists and offered up for free listening on distant corners of the internet. In Bandcamping, we dig up a couple of gems, old or new, released and streaming for free on the online platform. Alex G - TRICK Artist : Alex G Album : TRICK Released : November 2012 [...]

Every1 knows that the whole 'online hipster culture' is pretty effing dead and played out. #MillenialProblems are becoming middle aged now that the tweens are becoming self-aware, so I'm not sure why every1 pretends that GIRLS is a great/funnie/innovative tv show. It's on the same level as a failed late-night MTV teen sex drama, except it is on HBO so people watch it to jerk off 2. Is Lena Dunham an 'effing genius' or is she basically like the star of a 'scripted docu-drama' like 'The Hills'/Laguna Beach? Here's the Season 2 [...]
![[Video] St. Millie: “Hella Smooth” Feat. Vic Spencer](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4533042_lg.jpg)
St. Millie is here with new visuals for his track "Hella Smooth" Feat. Vic Spencer, which is off his No Religion But Up Mixtape, we released earlier this month. With the calm, smooth, vibe driven beat Millie hits the streets of Chicago at night, while Vic stays home and sparks up. Definitely one of the standouts from the project, and now we have some clean visuals to go along with it. Hit the jump to watch.
Directed by Drew Angle. Produced by Drew Hurt. Millie and Vic Spencer keep it mellow for this latest visual. No Highlife here, but you can catch the full version of the track on Millie's debut project, No Religion But Up . Definitely give it a listen if you haven't yet.

I always tend to think of Hella as Zach Hill's project, but Spencer Seim was always a key ingredient in the group's experimental math rock. Recently Spencer united with Aaron Ross (not of UT Longhorn lore) to create Solos , a band still working on bending the traditional sounds of rock n' roll. The guys will be releasing Beast of Both Worlds via Joyful Noise Recordings on September 11th (going to be a busy day at the record store!), and it's going to be a pretty [...]
There is a lot of talk these days about angry, raging youth. The reason people are so fond of talking about them is that, from the aimless riots of Swedish adolescents to the proclamations of England’s would-be literary movement, the “Angry Young Men,” there is the same utter innocuousness, the same reassuring flimsiness. Products of [...]

MTV has already shown the world what it's like to be 16 And Pregnant , but what is it like to be famous and pregnant? We'll be "In the Dark" no longer thanks to Dev , who has opened up her life to MTV's reality cameras in order to document her rise in the music scene, a bit interrupted by an unexpected bun in the oven with her fiance, skateboarder Jimmy Gorecki. Along the way, we'll also hang with The Cataracts and meet the 22-year-old hot mama's family, who were [...]
In April 2011, something remarkable and ugly was born. Three guys under the name of Death Grips left a mixtape named “Exmilitary” out for the world to experience, for free. What very well could be the start of something densely aberrant, ended up being one of the most talked about and lauded hip-hop mixtapes of the year. And so the madness begins. There are three types of people: those who listen to Death Grips , those who don’t and those who are scared shitless by them. Following up from [...]
One thing is for sure, a whole lotta tracks have dropped from Death Grips' the Money Store prior to the April 24th album's very nigh release. Since the group's debut mixtape, Exmilitary , many have questioned the Death Grips' legitimacy as a hip hop project. Is it really hip hop? Well, I hope "I've Seen Footage" quells the questions, because the reference to the golden age of rap is so obvious, it's almost as if Death Grips is teasing the naysayers. The "scratchy" rhythms [...]

DEATH GRIPS Exmilitary Third Worlds Music This album feels like a deliberate challenge to Gaslamp Killer, not only to claim his throne as the most intense, crazy sample-based hip-hop sound in California, but also to reinstate the MC’s role firmly in the new era. Death Grips’ MC Ride shouts with an in-the-red intensity somehow stranded in the Bermuda Triangle of soccer hooligan chants, “Who Let the Dogs Out,” and Onyx. There’s a major debt to horrorcore in these lyrics about orgies in [...]
I'm getting out of town for a bit to let my shoulders come back down to where they should be and sit on a beach until I turn brown. In the meantime, please enjoy this Wiz and Snoop video from a while back that I posted on our Facebook , but never got around to putting up here. Not sure why I never post about Wiz . I guess I just figured he didn't need my help.. plus he seems like kind of a dick. Like maybe he'd get high in my house, then tell me Danny Brown [...]
