This Friday at the Warehouse Project features no less than five world-class guests assembled on this inspired billing. Headlined by Bedrock’s John Digweed , one of the defining men of dance music’s last two decades, either partnered with Sasha or as a standalone DJ. Next up is Josh Wink , an American producer, remixer and DJ who has made huge contributions to electronica . The Ovum Recordings head represents some of the best techno music around. Saved’s founder Nic Fanciulli also stars, with his revered reputation for technically-gifted tech-house sets, this UK star [...]

I'm never wrong. One time, I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken. Henrik Schwarz is best known for his deep jazzy arrangements and clear pure sounds. Every single sound in his productions can be heard clearly. In his tribute to the King of Pop, Schwarz blends the world´s of Disco Emotion, House Building and Detroit Technoicism like no one else and not often heard anymore in this style, depths, complexness and rhythimc power. Second song of the day , [...]

With election day around the corner I thought this little number was particularly pertinent. The breakdown in the middle of this song is joyfully inspirational, when people are still dying for their human rights in our world , let us ensure that we exercise all of ours. Emmanuel Jal was a child soldier in Sudan this song . This remix was made to raise awareness for the upcoming referendum on Southern Sudanese independence , possible drawing a line under decades of conflict. Hopefully Khartoum lets things go off without tripping the kill switch. Top stuff [...]

A lot of exciting things are happening this month, Hear No Evil continues to lock in clients, EMPT did over 2 Terabytes of traffic last month which is flat out ridiculous for this underground baby, and moves are being made on a daily to keep things in motion - We get's busy ya'll. On top of all that I woke up not too long ago to work on this mixtape and I was in pure delight when I finally got to listen to this months LMDM. Steph and I call ourselves twins when it comes to music and the song [...]

Bill001 Officialy known under the monicer Bill001, here is a rare remix of the soulbrother Bill Withers. Henrik Schwarz lifts the original 19702s soul track to a new dirty and filtered, house disco level. Previously only available on... Read the rest
Man o man are these guys good. No matter how bad of a shape I am after a unexpected night of heavy vacaying (wolfgang last night when I had work today at 6 am with no intention of going out) I just pop in any Aeroplane vitamins and I'm flying high. Think psyché guitars, pop keys, melancholic waves and catchy bass lines meets disco beats. Aeroplane is a Belgium-based project of Stephen Fasano and Vito De Luca. Their latest mix on soundcloud is a standard feel good dosage of vitamins magically crafted to dissolve your pains and worries. [...]

On Friday June 25th the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team invade Montreal as part of their North American Tour. You can catch the two faces of the label of the moment at Velvet Speakeasy for United Groove. Resident Zubi (grab his latest mix here ) will be warming up the venue along with Montreal duo MadKids who are about to blow up in their own right. I would kill to make this night, but will sadly be stuck in another country, however if you are in Montreal and at all interested in the [...]

I started this post after returning to TO following an absolutely mind blowing set from one Mr. Henrik Schwarz at this years Mutek Festival and then totally forgot about it. Certainly the highlight of my Saturday night if not my whole experience at the festival was this soulful rework of Omar & Stevie's I'm Feeling You cranked through the Metropolis sound system. Tune has been around (and blogged) for a while, but looks like it just got a official release this past May. Incrediheat. Omar - Feeling You (Henrik Schwarz [...]
We'd posted up the unofficial (bootleg!?) version of this last year, which wasn't the actual remix, not sure if it was a demo version or what, but anyhow, here's the proper cut in... This weeks House Music Friday shall be quick and dirty, like a handy J in a White Castle bathroom... It's time for a nice bumpy low-fi chugger from German producer Henrik Schwarz , whom I don't know a heck of a lot about, but he did get his own edition in the legendary DJ Kicks series, which says something. He works with Ame and Dixon quite often, too. And I believe he is made of cheese, at least according to the internets. This one's a twelve-minute trip [...]

Here's a selection of my favourite recent house tracks that could tentatively be called deep house. Each are worthy contenders for tracks of the year (except for 'Who To Call', which dropped at the tail-end of 2009). Yes, your right, the sad keyboard-bound life of the mp3 blogger is exactly as you imagined: we have nothing better to do than compile 2010 best-of lists... a whole eight months in advance... Soulphiction has fast become my favourite deep house producer. And it was his 'Who To Call' EP that cemented it: the title track works a simple piano melody [...]

When I bought my mixing gear, I made a promise to myself that I would record something within two weeks. Although I didn't make that deadline (today is day 16), I've managed to sew together some straight-forward house for you to enjoy. I know it's a bit rough on the ears, but I'll do my best to keep improving. Feedback and criticism is of course more than welcome. Up The Aurehill by Going Other Places on Mixcloud [...]

What an extraordinarily heavyweight lineup for an event, and what a place to hold it. The choice of the Royal Festival Hall for this Red Bull Music Academy show seemed to be an overt indication that this was not to be your typical dance music event. In fact quite often this couldn't even be described [...]
