Well here we are, digging back hard at it. Finding new music everywhere. Great fun and great stuff! The first three featured here hail from my old "stomping" grounds - Dallas, Tx. They are all on the wonderful Dallas based Idol Records Label. These guys churn out some excellent local bands and are a respected indie music label. Here Holy Spain is a trio that hails from Dallas and on their debut Manic they deliver what the indie kids call "slacker punk". On Manic , the band cranks full on blasts of banging [...]
On Sunday evening, I drove out to Dallas with a few lady friends to see the Texas-based threesome, Girl In A Coma. Consisting of Nina Diaz on lead vocals and guitar, Jenn Alva on bass and Phanie Diaz (older sister of Nina) on drums, GIAC creates an interesting mesh up of 90's alt rock and harder punk coupled with a dash of retro duwop. Sure we already reviewed Here Holy Spain's new album awhile back, but today it's out for real. And to celebrate there will be an in-store performance at Good Records tonight at 7PM, complete with free beer/refreshments and stickers/posters of that BA cover art that was designed by James O'Barr, creator of The Crow. The trio will be hitting the road with The Toadies starting tomorrow and I can't think of a more perfect opening act. =w=

Today is one of those rare times when I wish I owned a time machine --not because I'd do anything overtly awesome like hanging out with Abe Lincoln, Mozart, or killing the baby Hilter or anything like that. Instead I would probably take Here Holy Spain's debut release "Manic" back to about 13 years ago and give it to young me.
