Luke Temple's solo project-turned-full-band will return in May with a new album entitled A Different Ship (that's the rather glorious cover art above). The album will come out through Secretly Canadian on May 8th. It was produced by long time Radiohead producer and collaborator Nigel Godrich, who was impressed with them at Glastonbury 2010. Below you can check out the lead single "Make Up Your Mind" and the album's track list. [...]

As previously reported, Here We Go Magic has teamed with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich for their third LP. According to Pitchfork , the end result, entitled A Different Ship , will arrive on May 8th via Secretly Canadian. Below, you can download one of the album's 10 tracks, "Make Up Your Mind". The band began recording with Godrich in 2011, first in L.A. and later in London. Discussing the new album with Stereogum , Temple called it "much more organic" than the band's 2010 album, Pigeons . Name: Here We Go Magic Progress Report: Luke Temple opens up about the band's serendipitous new Nigel Godrich-produced album Sometimes life really is a lot like a romantic comedy. I'm thinking specifically of that Gwyneth Paltrow movie Sliding Doors (I apologize) or any number of Lifetime cable movies that explore that age-old idea of how your life might be changed forever by simply crossing paths with a stranger, missing a train, or being at the right place at the right/wrong time. Such is apparently the story behind Here We Go Magic's [...]

Here's to Taking It Easy – Phosphorescent Pride saw arch finger-pointer Matthew Hauk and pals sound a bit Bon Iver-y, which was OK but 2010's follow up was a much more ballsy, countrified affair, with brass, slide guitars and riffs all over the shop –terrific value. I think I've already posted a video of my favourite track ( "God damn, Amanda, God damn it all"), so here's the opener – Bah bah badda ba badda bah! [...]

Without any ado, let's cut straight to it. Here's my top 20 songs of 2011: Jhameel - "Shut Up" Poolside - "Harvest Moon" Little Dragon - "Nightlight" Here We Go Magic - "Hands in the Sky" Christoph Andersson - "Metropol" Angus and Julia Stone - "Big Jet Plane" (Bootleg Remix) Jai Paul - "BTSU" [...]

Being that my typical night consists of hitting the sack at around 10pm, and that my new radio show is Friday nights from 10pm to midnight, I figured that my second show would center around the theme of sleep . So I pieced together a playlist of bedroom pop, chill wave, dreamy shoegaze and what I've dubbed as psychedelic ambiance. I took over for Stuarto just after 10 with a brief description of my first track, which I don't believe made it on air. The switch-over was a bit rushed [...]

Following their 2009 psych-pop release, Apple's Acre , Portland-based Nurses is back with another gem titled Dracula via Dead Oceans (released September 19). This strange brew of pop melodies and psychedelic fixations unmistakably transfers with great maturity and esteem from their [...]

I know that Here We Go Magic has a brand spanking new album and I tried to pick one of those songs to post here, but this track from their 2010 release is just toooooo good to not post first. I love the high energy pace of the rhythm and the kick-in of the full sound of the song at 1:53 gets me in the best of moods. Hope you enjoy it! Here We Go Magic - Collector
Jordan Geiger was once a member of Shearwater, but he now spends his days recording as Hospital Ships. His latest LP, Lonely Twin, is a doozy. Eccentric, charming and haunting, the full length runs the emotional gamut while evoking various glam and psychedelic influences. Opener "Love or Death" is bursting with energy, led by Geiger's [...]
Luke Temple spent 2009 as front man for Here We Go Magic by day and solo artist by night. On the heels of his band's burgeoning debut , Temple's own efforts were shelved so that he could spend more time with the group. It's only now that his third outing as a solo artist, Don't Act Like You Don't Care, is being released. Here We Go Magic's inspired, experimental psych-pop factors in only sparingly on Temple's new effort. "In the Open" is a spirited opener, complete with the [...]

Luke Temple previously hinted at his affinity for 1970s rock, specifically Harry Nilsson, in tracks like "Everything's Big" off his Here We Go Magic debut. On Temple's latest offering, his "country record" Don't Act Like You Don't Care ( which I raved about back in June ), those influences are brought out even more into the forefront in a batch of rootsy and raw-flavored folk. Replacing the sparkle and sheen of his effect- and samply-heavy Here We Go Magic project, Don't Act Like You Don't Care instead embraces the live and casual setting of friends sitting [...]
The man who Ben Gibbard said has one of the prettiest voices in indie rock is apparently one of its hardest workers as well. At the same time Luke Temple was developing the songs that would become the band Here We Go Magic's wonderful debut, he was unplugging and constructing some gorgeous lo-fi tunes for [...]

You likely know Luke Temple as the voice behind New York quintet Here We Go Magic , but the Manchester, MA native had a brewing solo project for years before the band's self-titled debut . When that record took off, Temple's third solo effort was put way on the back-burner - on low - as HWGM dropped two more releases. Now, Don't Act Like You Don't Care is finally going to see light of day and CoS has the premiere of the album's new single, "How Could I [...]

Luke Temple is one ambitious, multifaceted guy. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars Known for his vocal and multi-instrument contributions from the band Here We Go Magic , Luke Temple had been a solo artist much before he began his collaborative efforts. However, it seems to be that the greater likelihood that you have discovered him from the role of lead singer due to that band's buzz status on the internet. Obviously, solo records like this one warrant more of an individual's reflection of himself or herself; they have total say in what goes for [...]

This week provides one of the most robust and talent-heavy weeks in recent memory thanks to artists either teaming up (Mister Heavenly) or going solo (Gold Leaves) with new projects. While Grant Olsen's (Arthur & Yu) Gold Leaves launches for many for the first time, we were fortunate enough to get a hold of The Ornament a month ago and absolutely loved it. Also, the solo work of Here We Go Magic 's Luke Temple has us listening in as he released Don't Act Like You [...]
