shark head - m4m - 28 (ravari room) Date: 2009-11-04, 6:12PM CST Reply To This Post There you were, sitting and sweating looking confused and alone. I wanted you but you didnt seem to notice me, last wednesday at the ravari room. You have an enormous shark tattooed on your head, and an attitude that screams i'm a fucking dipshit. If you are interested meet me for a drink friday night at [...]

>> Primavera Sound Festival @ Barcelona, 30 mai 2009 >> Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Herman Düne, The Jayhawks, Deerhunter, Liars, Shearwater, Alela Diane...

Michael Hughes Herman Düne - "Show Me The Roof" An old song by Herman Düne, a song about being directed to the roof. There are lots of things you can do on a roof, some good and some bad. But this is a song about the good ones. This song suggests that going to the roof is the best way to cure yourself of the blues. From the roof you can see the whole city; you can sit with your friends and drink beers and there's [...]

The Decemberists – Always The Bridesmaid | Insound Vinyl | from the band Vinyl and more | at indie record stores This album was released digitally as a complete EP. The band also delivered it on vinyl as three 12"s. In classic Decemberists style, these music ranges from the chamber folk of "Valerie Plame" to the stripped down acoustic splendor of "Raincoat Song," while the melodies gallivant from sing-songy to indelible. [...]

It's REALLY cold here in central Ohio. And snowy. I have been up since like 2 in the morning, so I think I will be spending this Saturday night just hanging out, listening to music and compulsively listing some more things. Crazy fun. Short lists though. My lack of an attention span won't allow me to go more than two or three songs per category. First up, my three favorite song titles of 2008. Which is really hard to widdle it down to, and completely unscientific, but I am giving it a shot any way. I [...]

So, the big moment has arrived. During the next week (or two weeks, depending on the time i have to present yo this list), i'll tell you what my 50 favourite records were from 2008. I must admit I haven't listened to every album that got released this year, but maybe i'll make a few corrections at the end of the year. Maybe not. Comment as much as you want, cause i really enjoy that. Oh, by the way. You don't have to read everything. Just check out the mp3-links, look for them on myspace or the illegal [...]

The Highline Ballroom presented an excellent night of music on Thursday. The headliner was Jolie Holland who plays blues-ish, country inspired rock songs. Tom Waits is a huge fan of her music which makes sense as they both have both a timelessness and an undefinability to their sound. Ms. Holland sings and plays guitar but also played synthesizer, violin and some sort of weird violin/fiddle-ish thing that looked kind of homemade. She has a new record out, " The Living and The Dead," which I've been listening to quite a bit. [...]
by eliza czander Herman Dune might be my new favorite band. I got to The Highline Ballroom a little late last night, but was just in time to see the second half of their opening set. They've been on the road with Jolie Holland for about a month now, and as far as I know, last night's show was the final show of their US tour. Not a bad way to go out. [...]

Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful love songs I have ever heard. I don't know what else to write....just listen...and smile. Actually, I will say one more thing...next time you are out, but this new Herman Dune album, 'Next Year In Zion'....it's golden. Herman Dune - On A Saturday' MP3

Who? Rachel Lipson What? Antifolk singersongwriter with a sweet voice Sounds like? Kimya Dawson but sweeter, Laura Gibson, BeatBeat Whisper I haven't checked it, but if i let my brain work and run through all the artists i've been bloggin about, i miss women. There was miss autopsy, who is not a woman but just calls himself one, and the wind whistles but that's partially man. So, Rachel Lipson. She has a website, but that hasn't been updated in [...]

french band herman dune is often mistaken for being swedish, and it's not hard to see why, looking at the light, quirky pop they've been consistently producing through the years. this month, their upcoming album new year in zion will be released in france and following month in the states, and which i can't wait to get my hands on especially after picking up quite randomly their "i wish that i could see you soon" single in paris last year. while the title might suggest it, this is no sobby, whiny affair. instead, lead singer david-ivar [...]

Even before I knew the duo behind Herman Dune were Jewish, I had my suspicions. There's a Eastern European folk sensibility and a self-deprecating humor at work on the 123/Apple Tree EP that's unmistakable. Well, that and dudes have a song about naming their dog after Golda Meir. Isaac Bashevis Singer would've been all over this. The title track calls attention to their religious heritage with a love song, with David-Ivar Herman Dune singing, "If you worship Jesus when I am a Jew, you will know how bad I like to be with you." [...]
...or Poshfest, as I like to call it. Honestly, it was the most middle-class, civillised event I can possibly imagine. Even the toilets remained usable all the way through the weekend. That may sound like I am mocking it, and in a way I am, but myself along with it because you see, I loved this [...]
