For almost three decades, the North Pond Hermit has been the stuff of legend. Campers around central Maine area have long suspected that a hermit lived in the area and made a habit of gently burgling campsites in search of food and other peripherals. And they were right. 47-year-old Christopher Knight (the hermit, not the Peter Brady) has been arrested after having been caught on camera in the process of thieving some cookie dough. You've probably read about this already. It's been all over the Internet today, probably because we as a people are fascinated [...]

The Hermit is Broque’s latest discovery, and is immersed in a fairly mystical aura, what extends as well to his new EP „Liber 1 – Metempsychosis“. As his music suggests, he is far from being a no-name and can look back already to a long and productive history in the Munich techno scene of the 90s. But for now, his past shall remain as mysterious as his music. After an extensive creative break throughout the past years, his recent EP marks not only a fresh start but also a complete turning point where everything that matters lies in the future, [...]

Pulse Emitter - “Hermits” Seasoned cosmonaut Pulse Emitter (Daryl Groetsch), who’s been pumping out sterling synth music at a healthy rate since his project’s conception in 2003, has a new one out on Aguirre called Aeons . Tackling four different periods of time from ancient earth (“Pangaea”) to the distant, virtual reality-dominated future (“Immortality”), the record comes equipped with some nice head trips and winding treks through the primordial ooze. Your journey [...]
If the groundhog lived in these parts, he wouldn't have seen his shadow today. He'd have seen a sky filled with light gray clouds which cast no shadow. From my window, it looks cold out, but it is 43°. I figure this sense of feeling cold has to do with the missing sun. When it shines, I have an illusion of warmth. In my garden, the shoots of the dafs are above the ground. I can even see some buds. Yesterday the local paper had a picture of croci (crocuses if you don't like the Latin [...]

OST two-fer featuring tunes from Sloan, Barri and Gouldman With oldies radio having reduced Herman’s Hermits catalog to only a couple of their hit singles, many listeners may be unaware of the group’s immense mid-60s popularity. The Hermits were the top-selling British group in 1965, besting even the Beatles, spurred manic responses from female fans, and starred in two feature-length films. ABKCO’s two-fer pulls together the soundtracks from both 1966’s Hold On! And 1968’s Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter . To [...]

Hermit - The Wilderness of Manitoba Hermit - The Wilderness of Manitoba ( Free Download / Buy ) Recorded at the band’s shared home studio in Toronto, When You Left the Fire is the epitome of a modern folk album. Striving for themes that incite meaning and force a second listen, The Wilderness of Manitoba (@wildofmanitoba), employs the musicality and creativity of all five of its members to make their sound what it is. Vocally, the band follows the formula of many [...]

by teepoo Don't let the band name fool you. They may be called The Wilderness of Manitoba but the band is actually based in Ontario. They have a new EP coming out called Summer Fires which can be pre-ordered here . Check out Hermit a track that is simple and peaceful representation of Canadian folk music. The song makes me wish I had one of those old time houses with a porch and a swinging chair where I can sit lazily and watch [...]

Funny People , with director Judd Apatow, and Actors Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill was a highly anticipated movie this summer. I’m a huge Apatow fan starting with one of my favourite TV shows, Undeclared. Even better, George Simmons the character Sandler was playing looked like it paralleled parts of what Sandler’s career has become (lots of shitty movies). First things first, this movie IS funny. There are a ton of penis jokes but funny even when the plot point borders on depressing. This movie however is not good for a variety of reasons. It’s a [...]

The Hermit is a electronic/pop band out of Vancouver, BC. I haven't heard about them until I was e-mailed just a few weeks ago and I checked out their EO "Turn Up The Stereo" which featured 3 tracks and remixes of them. It's likely you haven't heard about them either. When it comes to independent music it feels like there's a zillion bands I haven't heard of. The Hermit actually beat out the likes of Caribou and Junior Boys for Favorite Canadian Indie Electronica band in 2006 . I would say The Hermit feels [...]
