Thought I'd throw a couple tracks out there. These gems have been keeping me sane the past few weeks. Santa Cruz based Minnesota has been turning out some of my favorite remixes lately and after seeing him throw down at Entropy at The King Cat Theater last weekend I feel compelled to tell everyone! Listen on SoundCloud Also, if you're not following Minnesota or MartyParty, they've created some songs together (calling themselves Deathstar) and below are a couple they recently dropped that [...]

As the festival circuit grows more crowded with each lineup announcement and ticket sell-out, it's never been more essential that a music fest provide more than just music and fun in the sun, offering everyone - from casual music fans to the hardcore festival aficionado - a consistently fresh and rewarding experience. Judging by the manner with which its organizers have been forging their very unique identity since 1996, Lightning in a Bottle is surely one of the finest festivals around, combining a festival experience unlike any other (where else could you find electro-superstar Pretty Lights, fire-dancers, and a lecture on [...]

The second day at LIB was packed with the excitement generated by mega-headliners like Pretty Lights and Beats Antique . The treats started long before their sets though at The Bamboo Stage, which boasted an exceptional lineup of its own. Notables included Portland-based acts like Phutureprimitive and Russliquid, a NYC-vet named Gladkill, and a few others that hailed from in and around the Bay (ill-esha, Heyoka, and LowRIDERZ). An LA duo known as Virtual Boy capped off what had already been an awesome night with music that inspired feverish dancing and beaming faces. In short, Memorial Day [...]

I am surprised it took this long for me to find Heyoka. Dubstep can be too dark and aggressive for my tastes, but artists like Heyoka, Bluetech and others are hitting the sweet spot with music that is head knodding, atmospheric/psychedelic and danceable at the same time. The mixture of dub, hip hop [...]
So as you may or may not know Heyoka is a glitchstep master (sounds like a Jackie Chan movie doesn't it?) Well I have been trying to get you in the know 'em for a while.. Hey y'all! I just got back from an AMAZING concert, Jedi Electro . Remember them? And I vow, I VOW TO SEE EVERY SINGLE LIVE SHOW OF THEIRS IN MONTRÉAL. I don't care. They are without a doubt, the top 10 shows of this entire year for me...maybe ever! Ahem. I am FIVE hours away from heading out to New York. I hate that I have no time to make more complete updates but I figure, two minutes in heaven, is better than one minute in heaven. So, one sentence reviews and thoughts are all the time [...]
