Broken Bells So I'm sitting here on Wednesday night with a headache and a pile of links and no particular idea what I'm going to do with them. Got some contests and the last of the SxSW stuff to dole out over the long weekend, but for today, it's gonna be one of those housecleaning posts. Starting with the announcement of Broken Bells' first North American tour , which includes a June 2 date at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto. The collaboration between workaholic producer Danger Mouse and [...]

I know that I have been drooling over Holy Fuck lately but how could one not? After getting a taste of their upcoming release Latin with the track "Latin America" + watching the live videos from SXSW , a remix by the group is just what I need to help wind down this workweek. Enjoy Holy Fuck's remix of Hidden Cameras' "Underage." -Mangtooth Filed under: LISTEN TO THIS , Music Tagged: Hidden Cameras , Holy Fuck , RCRD LBL

From the time when we briefly mentioned this on twitter and here as an 'aside' (those short little tidbits at the bottom of the page) until now, the song 'Heat & Hot Water' by ARMS has totally crept up on me. The Brooklyn trio (featuring Todd Goldstein of Harlem Shakes ) are following up to their celebrated US debut Kids Aflame with a free offer to download their brand new self-titled EP ( here ). They'll be down in Austin this week, try to catch them at one of the dates below. [...]

After working as a violinist/string arrangement for bands like Beirut, Arcade Fire, Pet Shop Boys, Grizzly Bear, Mika, Holy Fuck, Great Lake Swimmers, The Mountain Goats, Stars, Fucked Up and The Hidden Cameras, Owen Pallett (aka Final Fantasy) has recently released his third album Heartland on Domino Records. The new single "Lewis Takes Off His Shirt" is due March 29th and now has this borderline NSFW video.

Chris Gergley One of my very favourite developments in the Toronto music scene over the past few years has been the rise of the in-store performance - whereas not so long ago there were maybe just a handful a year, they're now occurring all the time at most of the independent record stores in the city and featuring bigger and bigger acts. Not only is it giving fans the opportunity to see artists in an intimate setting, it's also often the only chance for underagers to see them live. And while I've often bemoaned the lack of a [...]

The eyes of the world are transfixed on Vancouver — and all things Canadian — thanks to the 2010 Winter Olympics. So it's good timing that The Hidden Cameras , one of the best indie bands from the Great White North, is up next in LimeWire Store's Live At Lime series. While on tour supporting their critically-heralded Origin:Orphan (Arts & Crafts), the multimember Canadian indie-poppers laid down a six-track EP a few hours before a gig in New York City. Featuring new versions of songs from their recent full-length, Live At Lime [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , Exclusive , Canada It's been a long while since Canada's indie darling Feist gave us any new music -- her breakout record, 'The Reminder', was released in 2007. But it's hard to fault her when she goes to the trouble of completely overhauling her back catalogue for live shows like her Cultural Olympiad performance at Vancouver's Orpheum Theatre. Even ardent fans were hard-pressed to pick out some of their favourites, which were rendered almost unrecognizable for the [...]

Filed under: Exclusive , New Music , You Oughta Know , Canada Usually when a group devotes itself to another band's catalogue, they're sentencing themselves to a life of state fairs and cougar bars. But most tribute bands don't have the hype-factor of Sheezer, an all-female Weezer tribute band based in Toronto. With only one performance under their belt, Sheezer already has an intense Facebook following, healthy dose of blog buzz and at least one high-profile supporter: Rivers Cuomo himself. [...]
![Concert Review: Kids on TV, Thomas, Owen Pallett, Hidden Cameras [Wavelength 500, Garrison, Feb 15]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2338142_lg.jpg)
Toronto - As anyone who lives in Toronto knows, Wavelength is celebrated its 500th and last shows (of the current format) this week. Sunday night was the last night of the five night series and as anyone would have guessed, it ended off with a bang. On the card last night was a lot of bands, but the ones I actually saw (having arrived close to 1am) are Kids on TV , Thomas, not-really-a-surprise-guest Owen Pallett and actually-a-surprise guest The Hidden Cameras . The latter not having played a live show in quite a while. [...]

Frank Yang I don't really want to have to quote myself, but I kind of have to point to my writeup of Woodpigeon's last visit to Toronto for NXNE 2009 to reinforce the fact that in all the times I've seen them perform - four or five as of this show - it has been an almost completely different band and/or configuration and as such, a markedly different personality. The one constant, of course, is singer-songwriter-bandleader Mark Hamilton - and while you'd think that his gleaming, folk-pop compositions would be another thing you [...]

Is it just me or does it seem like there aren't awesome underground films being made anymore? Maybe I'm just out of touch and don't ever hear about them...but I feel like the queer/riot grrrl/punk/weirdos of the 90's made awesome no budget films that captured life in those scenes. For instance, I saw Sarah Jacobson speak about Mary Jane's Not a Virgin Anymore in a tiny theater in Ohio when she toured it in the 90s. That was probably the first time I realized that girls could make movies and that you didn't have to be in [...]
