MySpace It's not the firm, 100% release date that you'd want to see before getting excited, but this update from The Radio Dept. declaring that their third record Clinging To A Scheme - constantly rescheduled and delayed since September 2008 - will be available on CD and LP via Labrador in March is the most official thing we've seen yet. Past target dates have come from their label and they've had to backpedal on each one, but this one comes from the band, and they've sealed it with a stream [...]

Clara Clara - "One On One" It's Said the Gramophone's beloved François Virot here, yowling over "One On One"'s bristling bassline. Clara Clara are all push & pull, warp & weft, tension with little resolve. There are small human touches (drumsticks, handclaps, the playground lyrics), but the organ and cymbals rise like symptoms - there's doom in the water, blackness in our ventricles. Even the coda, darkly fun, is the sound of stamping a garden into dust. [ MySpace /coming soon!/ more Clapping Music preview ] [...]

Oh, I do love this - 'Say My Name' by Destiny's Child* getting the Hidden Cameras treatment. A live, stripped down version, it has a more wistful vibe, rather than the more sassy and confrontational feeling of the original. You've gotta love the drums kicking in midway, and I can't go past the extended saxophone solo in the middle. Lovely stuff. Say My Name (Destiny's Child Cover) - Hidden Cameras (via Chromewaves ) [...]

I am not adding a picture, this is straight business. I found an old Ipod the other day and I thought I would share some of my favorite lost tunes of the 00's. What follows are those tracks which may have slightly fallen under the radar. Just like Goose said, ...

Here is part four of my best of Canadian albums of 2009. Silver Starling - Silver Starling Saw them at Bands Undone and they were amazing. Best tracks are Something Over Nothing, Ghosts and This Is Not A Dream Outside Love - Pink Mountaintops Love the description of the album which says: " "Outside Love" is ten songs of love and hate that read [...]

Filed under: The Hit List , Canada Boiling 10 years down to 10 albums is a near impossible task. Even the list-maker can get bummed about the great records that got left off. But while the order can be questioned and favourites might not make the cut, what's less debatable is that these were all landmark albums that led the Canadian music scene from the desert to the concert hall of milk and honey. 10. Final Fantasy , 'He [...]

Thanks to Dancing About Architecture for turning me onto this whip-smart remix of The Hidden Cameras ' "In The NA" by Scissor Sister Jake Shears and Stuart Price (a.k.a Thin White Duke). Frank Yang This one has apparently been sitting in my coffers since 2005, which means it dates back to well before the time that I had any tags on MP3s beyond, well, artist and title. But really, doesn't the post title say it all? Assuming the time period is correct - which is no certainty - you've got a Mississauga Goddamn -era Hidden Cameras doing a live cover of Destiny's Child , who were putting out their final album in Destiny Fulfilled , after which they'd [...]

A sold-out show was awaiting Ontario’s The Hidden Cameras when they showed up at the Biltmore Cabaret on Wednesday night. As rain fell outside, the heat began to rise in the underground venue. A never-ending number of band members came to the stage to give us several examples of their self-described “gay church folk music.” Singer/songwriter Joel Gibb was consistent in his request for “a huge dance party” as he played “He Falls To Me,” “Death Of A Tune,” and “Music Is My Boyfriend,” while band members came and went and, at times, doubled their numbers including go-go [...]
Here's a few fresh songs that I can't get out of my head. I think I've played each one at least 10 times in the past two days. Enjoy. Who Says - John Mayer In The NA - The Hidden Cameras The Trip - Paperplain Bubbles - Biffy Clyro
