Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. Listen. Downloadables: Harnessed in Slums (mp3) by Archers of Loaf That's So Raiden (mp3) by The Numerators [d/l Human Blanket @ thenumerators.bandcamp.com ] [...]

If you're anything like me, you know how difficult it can be to keep track of all of the new music that's constantly floating around the Internet. Here's our latest month-in-review mix collecting some our favorite new (or new to us) songs recently posted on the website. Gathered in the mix are seventeen new tracks from Bay Area bands that were posted on TheBayBridged.com in November, with links below to download each of them individually. Live This Month: December 2011 (Podcast #262) In Live This Month , we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. For a month when few new records are coming out and music journalists spend a lot of time meticulously crafting numerical lists of their favorite albums of the year, there are still a wealth of great live shows hitting the San Francisco area in December. Bands that had big years in 2011 - including Other Lives, Cass McCombs, and [...]

This Oakland band released their debut record, Spirit of the West, in the summer, but we're just hearing it now. "Super Gu" is the last track, and it's fast and spastic, with a throbbing, shouted chorus and stabbing guitar. The cover art is by guitarist Erin Allen, who was started the group Child Pornography, the band you can't google without getting on a watch list. He was also was apparently in LA noise band Gang Wizard before getting kicked out, a fact proudly noted in t...

High Castle drummer Shaggy Reaper directed this VHS-only clip for the band's "Bee Medal," off the Spirit of the West full length out on Zum Recordings . Watching the video, it's a little strange to think we once relied on the fuzzy, faded strangeness of VHS. Reaper utilizes the medium's creepy feel to maximum effect, though, adeptly pairing it with a dynamic burst of warped punk. High Castle performs at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records with Uzi Rash and Lenz on December 17th (7pm, $3-5, All Ages). Hear a couple [...]

And now three reasons to jet on over to the Empty Bottle tonight for the final night of Permanent Records' five-year anniversary celebrations.... 1. Bad Drugs are quite the noisy band. This local outfit churns out brutally abrasive, grinding noisecore (I think) yet somehow does manage to let some melody bubble to its clamorous top. The cleverly titled "Ga'an Fishin'" (which I assume is named after the Chicago psych group), is quite the cacophony until a demented circus riff at its center. On "Go Ghost," the band goes in [...]

Recommended Show: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2011 HIGH CASTLE @ DEATH BY AUDIO 49 S 2nd St Brooklyn, NY 11211 $7, 8PM Many of the best west coast bands don't make it to the east coast all that often, so it's a treat when they do. High Castle photo by Dalton Blanco. High Castle - Crustaceans Demise High Castle , who've been tearing it up in Oakland for four years now, have just released their debut album Spirit of the West on Zum Records. Featuring longer songs and a more expansive nature than its predecessor, 20092s taster EP You're on Your Own Way, the album is a powerhouse of fuzzy tone, angular delivery, and a pissed-off spirit. The band has just set off on a monthlong tour [...]

Want to know the scoop in SF this weekend? Check inside!

Some wildly disjointed noisy post-punk here from San Fran's High Castle . They had been previously touring behind the weight of a self-released demo CD-R, however have just released their debut EP You're On Your Own Way through Zum as a one sided 12''. Containing 7 tunes in just less than 12 minutes, this thing flies by but is in every way effective. I liken it to the time when a supercell dropped a very brief tornado right outside my neighborhood. It sounded like a [...]

Last night San Francisco's High Castle played in Los Angeles to kick off their west coast tour (sadly, we weren't there to take photos), but the tour continues over the next couple days up and down the west coast (all dates are below). We just wonder when the band (which features one of the members of Child P*rnography) will swing by New York City again! High Castle tour dates: July 7th Bakersfield, CA @ The Vault July 8th Sacramento, CA @ The Fun Castle July 9th Salem, OR @ The Off Center [...]
'Dour post-punk music with a german mock accent which I guess isn't mock after all because the singer is actually German' is the genius comment that DJ Rick had to make about Siltbreeze's finest, Teenage Panzerkorps. Theirs is one of those rackets we get understandably excited about, being as we ...
