High on Fire are fucking road warriors, I tells ya. They seem to just live on the road. The band has just announced a new headlining tour that will take them all over the country with two fine openers: Torche and Kylesa. A good friend told me that he just saw Torche, who are now ...
So three of our absolute favorite bands are touring together this fall, raising our collective excitement level for the aptly-named "Sanctioned Annihilation" tour to meteoric levels. Seriously, if you've spent any time whatsoever on this site, you know how stoked we are on this tour. [Publisher's Note: Not to mention that a second NYC date has been added for Sleep in September!!] Make the jump

Sure, Buzzgrinder's birthday party was about Viking hats, cupcakes, party favors and awkward stares (especially that last one) - but once High on Fire took the stage, it was all about Matt Pike. Talk about a guitar hero! High on Fire - Speaking in Tongues

After something like four attempts in the past five years, I finally made it to a High on Fire show. And it was pretty awesome. They're one of those bands that has three guys on stage and it feels like there's about thirty guys. I couldn't find the setlist, but I know they played a lot of newer songs, because I recognized most of the stuff and I only have the last two albums. I'm bad with a lot of the song titles, but I know they played Snakes for the Divine, Frosthammer, How Dark We Pray, [...]

So Buzzgrinder properly turned 9 yeard old this past Saturday. I celebrated in my own special way: swimming in a giant quarry and eating the best pizza Louisville has to offer . You were probably sitting right here on BG, reading over your favorite posts of the year and trying to come up with just the right retort to that one jerk (that one jerk more than likely being me), since I imagine that's how we Buzzgrinderers spend most of our Saturdays, right? Well now, don't forget that we'll be having a proper celebration this Thursday [...]
My Gold Mask-1000 Voices This duo hailing from Chicago is proof that you don’t need a big band to create a full rich sound. If you don’t believe us believe the EP and if you don’t believe that see them live. Keepaway-Babystyle Brooklyn locals, Keepaway made our list of 10 for 2010 in the beginning of the year and so far they have lived [...]

Thousands will make the pilgrimage to Chicago this summer for two of the nation's premiere music festivals, but long after the hangovers and sunburns have faded, a lower profile, albeit higher volume festival will attempt to force The Windy City to submit. October 6-10 will witness Riot Fest 2010 , perhaps the world's largest celebration of the past, present and future of underground punk, descend upon Chicago. Let's do the math together: 5 days + 5 main venues + a shit-ton of punk (and punk-inspired) heavyweights = one helluva good time. The [...]

Ahoy, there punk rockers! Your favorite fall music festival, aka Riot Fest , returns to Chicago for it's sixth year this October 6 - 11 with a lineup full of your old-school mosh pit favorites. The headliners announced so far include Bad Religion , The Mighty Mighty Bosstones , Circle Jerks , Snapcase and Less Than Jake . The bill also includes locals The Lawrence Arms , Articles of Faith , Smoking Popes and a few bands in the metal sector such as High On Fire [...]
Banking on the fact that people probably don't want to spend money on new music two days after getting blitzed to celebrate American freedom, the powers that be have given us a weak release schedule for this week. Here's your highlights: High On Fire is reissuing three of their albums on vinyl. Trent Reznor's new project, How to Destroy Angels has its debut EP out. Robert Pollard 's second solo album of the year is out, reminding us once again how prolific he is. [...]

:: Leor over at True/Slant is a bit skeptical about some of the musical choices being made for Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World . I'm skeptical about more than just that when it comes to the movie's quality, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :: It's that time of year again... peta2 wants you to decide who the sexiest vegetarian celebrity is . Just like last year, my vote goes to Ted Leo . I'm lookin' out for you, Teddy. Wink face emoticon. :: Microsoft and Bing are [...]
Following months of speculation, reunited doom metal gods Sleep have announced a string of dates following their appearance at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in upstate New York. I guess someone's puttin' up a big stack of bills for Sleep to do this, because all of those dates fall in a row without any days off: [...]

Adult Swim used to be strictly the home of wacky cartoons. But as of last December, the music world took notice with the programming block's insane remix album . And while the home of Robot Chicken could have ended their musical foray with that, they're back again with the Adult Swim Singles Program, a slew of singles (and some videos) from some pretty noticeable indie favorites. Starting May 17th, Adult Swim will host a new single weekly until July 12th. Kicking off the series will be Superwolf (Will Oldham and Matt [...]
I mean, how did they come up with this? There's no gold cobra, no suggestion that the phrase "gold cobra" is a euphemism for cock, and no indication that this is a music CD. Thank God someone thought to put the band's name and the album title on there somewhere (it's in the center of [...]
