As dubstep continues along its assent/dissent (delete accordingly) into ludicrous all-out racous rave noise, I thought I'd post some of my current favourite dancefloor orientated dubsteppers. These are the great big dancefloor monsters, verging on electro in terms of sheer maximal bombast and clamour. This isn't the somber, often dark 2-stepper style we associate with Kode9's superb (and my favourite) Hyperdub label, but big bad anthems suitable for tearing excitable dancefloors up. Chase and status are doing for dubstep and drum 'n' bass, what Pendulum did for drum 'n' bass (albeit not quite in the same way). Their accessible, poppy brand of the two genres provides hooks, vocal samples and alot to be relished by the non-drum'n'basser. It's likely I slept on this being that Shuttle 's EP for Ninja Tune has already dropped. But featured here in one form or another (in the mix series Trash In the Bassment with his tune Rotten Guts,) Shuttle's US bass presence is not only confirmed by his membership with Ninja Tune but now with this remix from High Rankin' . This growler is adorably preceded by a minute of contemplative synths, setting an unassuming stage for what becomes a breakcore infused dubstep banger, complicating matters of rhythmic sanity and overall low-end logic. We know, this is a good few days old now this mix but we keep finding ourselves going back to it over and over again. This for sure though is merely a showcase of a few of the fantastic hardcore Dubstep tunes by Brighton's HIGH RANKIN but my word is it hot. Being a dubstep fan becomes more and more exciting everyday. I just grabbed Skream's remix of La Roux's Quickand and now High Rankin is testing the bass too. This man sure sounds legit when he proudly shows off his Brighton roots and seeming fondness for all-caps type. Oh, and he makes some pretty great music too.
