You know I'm gonna fall for this one Alice May , right? Bluesy rock, with that Southren feel that I grew up on, Hill Country Revue is two parts Mississipi Allstars (Chris Chew and Cody Dickinson) and thouroughly Memphis. At first listen you might think it's a total throwback to 70s rock a roll, but the energy is pure 2.0 with guitar work that takes you back and forth between eras. The name Hill Country Revue may be new, but you might have heard members Cody Dickinson and Chris Chew's other group, North Mississippi Allstars, or Daniel Coburn's band Dixie Hustler. Together, and with several other well-known Memphis musicians, the boys formed this new project - seeking to become the "the modern blues band for the new generation." The music is heavily steeped in classic Southern rock, with plenty of incidiary guitar riffs and a solid rhythm section making songs like "Alice May" an irresistable update of a timeless sound. Their debut album, Make A Move, will be released [...]

Hill Country Revue For the record and right off the top, the North Mississippi Allstars have not broken up. But with the band's guitarist, Luther Dickinson, having recently joined the Black Crowes both in the studio and out on the road, the Allstars' two other members, drummer Cody Dickinson and bassist Chris Chew, have decided to launch a new musical side project while the North Mississippi Allstars are on a brief hiatus. Cody and Chris are calling their new group the Hill Country Revue [...]

The band features a great combination of musicians, and will touring extensively through September. The album will be released May 12th. mp3: Alice Mae [...]
