BOSTON - Exposing our friends to new music is probably the most rewarding thing about hosting the blog. And, helping our local friends (both old and new) in bands is a great way to support the region's music scene . So that's why we are really glad to finally get the word out on Winter is Cold , - a compilation of Boston-area artists who want you to hear what they've been up to! The music download is completely free. It's never been [...]
With more than 350 shows under their belt and numerous EPs and full-lengths, Ho-Ag got some experience to prove that they're more than one-trick pony. Band's bio (which can be found on their official website) describes them as "a weird mess of sci-fi B-movie spazz-rock drama songs." and their instrumentation, according to the same bio, [...]
If you like noise rock and you live in or near New York City, the next week-and-a-half will melt your genitals clean off. You read right. The molten manmeat madness starts on Sunday, when Harvey Milk headlines the (now Tombs-less) Beasts Of The East festival at Club Europa in Brooklyn. The event starts at [...]

I'm not packing clothes for this year's CMJ Marathon in New York City. In fact, I'm not even bringing down a laptop. Instead of spending five straight days inhaling various poisons, feverishly blogging on the same nonsense that everyone else is covering, and ransacking my weathered eardrums with out-of-tune guitar shreds and swollen bass lines, I'm limiting my trip to one day and two nights, and seeing how much I can cram in. Armed with two note pads, running shoes, an itinerary, and a fistful of Ritalin, I'm leaving Boston on [...]

Last Sunday, I was fortunate enough to be able to fly out to Boston with some coworkers to attend the ACCM Conference . The largest conference for catalog, internet, and multichannel merchants, the ACCM Conference highlighted some of the new ideas (in the case of blogging) and some of the more traditional ideas (such as maintaining your brand loyalty) present in the direct marketing world today. If you don't care about what I have to say about my trip to Boston, scroll down to the music section and check out some great Boston area bands. [...]
DOWNLOAD: Ho-Ag, “Paint the Navy†(mp3) It’s been documented â€" with marker, in the girls’ stall at the Abbey Lounge no less! â€" that Locust-y frazzle-punks Ho-Ag are capable of rocking people’s faces off. But they’ve been so busy changing masks and sledgehammering hyphens to subgenres that their records were more like party favors from a bloody car wreck (or a Birthday Party reunion) than indicators of long-term [...]

Download: Ho-Ag â€" “Into The River†MP3 Dang, Ho-Ag ! You so crazy! It's understandable that Allston, MA's Ho-Ag, newly signed to the consistently stellar Hello Sir Records , has been known to play full-on Devo cover sets. This isn't to say that Ho-Ag rips off Devo wholesale or anything. Far from it! What they take from Devo--particularly the earlier, better stuff--is that adventurous spirit, that limitless energy and thirst for innovation that [...]
