It's been more than a year since me and my brother (aka The Hoax ) made our last mixtape (you can still find that one here ), so we thought it was time to make another one. We've chosen to make two separate mixes this time, one containing nothing but dubstep, the next one will be all about drum & bass (coming soon). If you likes our mixtapes, go like our facebook page to keep you updated! TRACKLIST : Trolley Snatcha - Make My Whole [...]
We didn't have a Pit Romney column up last week, a critical error since HOLY CRAPS SO MUCH HAPPENED! So without further ado, here's your latest round-up of the goings on in the wonderful world of hardcore festivals! The bilingual bunch behind Quebec's sixth Heart Fest recently revealed the full lineup for this three-day event, [...]

Wu Tang Clams are just one of the many hip-hop-based food items on the extensive Rappetite menu in Atlanta, GA. Other hilarious offerings include Lil' Kimchee, Talib Quail-i, and the devilish-sounding Ol' Dirty Custard. The unfortunate thing about this restaurant is that it's all a hoax. "A fun joke that has gone out of control!" wrote Everett Steele of Atlanta-based interactive media agency Baby Robot . This may be a good thing considering that "beef" between the Turkey Minaj and Lil' Kimchee could easily wreak havoc to your stomach. Wu-Tang member [...]

Tutta l'autorevolissima community di At Ease , [...]
November 2009 seems like such a long time ago. I was blogging about 8oz. Burger Bar and how I tried 100 new foods that year, Spring Awakening, John Terlazzo, and online poker. Oh yeah, and there was that time I almost choked to death on a kernel of popcorn while watching The Men Who Stare [...]

Plants by Borrowed Beams of Light Review by Brian Tucker At times, with its soulful and manic state of delivery, Charlottesville, Virginia's Borrowed Beams of Light comes across like Talking Heads as a pop garage band playing in overdrive or reverting to states of calm introspection. The manic energy and curdled vocals on S tellar Hoax really are a delight (notably on "Holy Cow"). The brazen guitar playing, lead or otherwise, makes Borrowed Beams all the more engaging as they make music rich with heartfelt, stadium ready vocals [...]

I've become a little reluctant to compare bands to other bands as it places an unnecessary frame of reference that tends towards reduction. Having said that, Charlottesville, VA's Borrowed Beams of Light offer a certain musical concoction that at times brings to my mind Field Music, and that's nice company in my opinion. Below are a few songs below from the debut album, Stellar Hoax . "Run Rabid through the Haze" "Holy Cow" [...]
The London riots last month were no joke to begin with but really hit home for us when the Sony PIAS warehouse, a storage facility for Basick Records and a number of other independent record labels, was burned to the ground and looted. According to The Telegraph [via Metal Insider], new evidence is showing that the operation was actually [...]

"It doesn't get better than this." Looking around today, the inbox was looking a little Friday-dry until a late drop-off came through and resurrected my day from yet another repeat of new releases... Listen At BIRP!

Something in keeping with Ambient Sunday, some dubstep of the Burial/Jamie Woon variety, rather than anything bowel-shaking. Listen to Chemical Burn EP , but head for bonus track for the best thing there. There's also a remix to download and the EP is available to buy on vinyl. The Walton Hoax are from Antwerp, Belgium. They are a duo Peter Vanek and InfraBuse. The title track has that slow hazy start, with echoing blocks, so redolent of Burial. The vocals though are straight out of Jamie Woon, translated into a slightly more baritone American accent, giving a strangely [...]
By Tom Keiser Watch More on Network Awesome "It makes no sense. I mean, how can people just vanish off the face of the Earth in this day and age?" In 1977, a conspiracy was hatched involving writers, actors, politicians, scientists, and Brian Eno. The British television series Science Report was about to be cancelled, and its scheduled April 1 finale gave the creators an opportunity to prank those [...]

Coming from out of Antwerp, Belgium, this not-so-well known duo consisting of singer/songwriter Peter Vaneck and producer infraBuse has put out a single from their upcoming EP by the same title. Very interesting toned-down mix of 2-step, dubstep, and soul. Those vibrato female vocals in the background coupled with the breakdown at the should be paid attention to. Good song for a gloomy wet day like today where the birds chirping and the bright green buds shaken down from the tree above my fire escape all add a little cheer to the grey. Enjoy and keep your ears out for [...]

Following in the lines of future-influential artists & acts which are stemming out of Belgium continually, a new found project consisting of singer/songwriter Peter Vanek and his production buddy, infraBuse have amazed me in one foul swoop with their 'Chemical Burn' track, accompanied by a most original idea for a music video too. The idea came about after Jerome (aka infraBuse ) saw a post on his friends Facebook page who said that she got freaked out by playing a certain video game at night because it looks so gloomy.. [...]

Fool me once, shame on me... A while back, Rocks Off heard that the tween-meme queen of YouTube, Rebecca Black of "Friday" fame, was doing a mall tour that included a stop at the Galleria today. ... Continue reading "Anatomy Of A Hoax: No Rebecca Black At The Galleria" >
Website In 1995, the British Blues Connection presented them with the award for Blues Band Of The Year and Blues Album Of The Year. A second album, Unpossible , was released on Code Blue in 1996, before the band founded their own record label, Credible Records, and released arguably their finest album Humdinger in 1998 with new drummer Mark Barrett. As this album rode a wave of critical acclaim and commercial success, the band hit the peak of their powers on stage too, performing sell-out shows all over Europe, and opening for the great [...]
