The band Hockey recently released a new album, Wyeth Is . They're currently on tour and make a stop tonight at the TLA with The Hush Sound , River City Extension and Genevieve Schatz from Company of Thieves. Hockey started as a four piece but are now the duo of Ben Wyeth and Jerm. They have a soulful, and playful take on 802s synth-pop. Below, download "Calling Back."

I've been on the Internet for a while, so pretty much nothing that comes out of Russia really surprises me anymore. Those bastards are crazy as hell, and it clearly is in their blood from a very young age. With that being said, I present you with the video above. Least surprising thing ever.

It was a great show today on Photogmusic Live . I had in the studio Claudia Gutierrez of Ottawa School of Art to talk about J'Adart taking place on May 9th at Karsh-Masson Gallery (136 St. Patrick Street) The interview is in the 30 minute mark. Have a listen to the show . Photogmusic LIVE - May 6, 2013 by Photogmusic on Mixcloud [...]
It’s Saturday, so that means it’s once again time for Shorthanded Goals. Shorthanded Goals is an informal mixtape of the best sounds from the past week (or weeks) that I didn’t get a chance to cover. These tracks arrive via the Sirens of Decay inbox from bands/labels/PR folks and occasionally readers, as well as from my own exploration of Soundcloud or Bandcamp. They are all great tracks looking for a new home. These are the tracks I end up missing, so [...]

With their first album since 2009 hitting shelves next week, Hockey played a secret show at Manhattan's Soho House to a crowd of their biggest fans. The now-Brooklyn band mixed it up with a perfect combination of old and new, finishing the evening with their hit, "Song Away". The new album, Wyeth IS , comes out on May 7. Photos from the show below. Hockey

Hockey Tuesday, May 14 Webster Hall 125 East 11th Street New York, NY Doors: 6PM Tickets: $20 16+ When last I saw Hockey , they were supporting their debut album Mind Choas and garnering a lot of attention for the infectious single, "Too Fake". Now they're set to release their sophomore album, [...]

Weiner missing shots as goalie in his adult league hockey team. On Monday night, the New York Daily News crashed prospective mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner's adult league hockey game at the Manhattan sports complex Chelsea Piers. The former congressman was missing shots as goalie while politics reporter Jennifer Fermino questioned if and when he would officially join the NYC race. That's when "Weiner darted off the ice," according to the Wednesday edition of the Daily News, "and a teammate — who reeked of beer and claimed to be a doctor [...]
Toronto's Freeman Dre & the Kitchen Party have put together a tune that should serve as the theme song to the Leafs' return to the playoffs. They even managed to work the word 'Nazem' in there. Listen to "Go Leafs Go!!" here: GO LEAFS GO!! 2013 (dedicated to Stompin’ Tom) by Freeman Dre & the Kitchen Party They're dedicating the song to the late great Stompin' Tom Connors. Freeman Dre & the Kitchen Party play the Cameron House in Toronto on May [...]

When Hockey's Mind Chaos album came out in 2009, I was completely blown away with the unique sound this duo out of Portland created. It was this incredible blend of cutting-edge modern day indie rock along with the few good things that existed in 80's rock music. So inytiguing to my ears in fact that I listened to that album for a good two years straight like it was new everytime. To be honest I still listen to that album quite often, but after a couple of years I was expecting Hockey to come out [...]
Bandmates Ben Grubin and Jerm Reynolds have come a long way since producing punk influenced dance tunes in their Redlands, California basement. Four years after their successful debut record, Mind Chaos, Hockey returns center-stage in support of their sophomore album, Wyeth IS. Although previously compared to the likes of The Strokes and MGMT, Hockey believes [...]

"Lift Away" by New York City's Black Light Dinner Party is one of those songs that is satisfying no matter what kind of mood you're in. Need something to ease you into the morning? "Lift Away" has the appropriate chillwave vibe. How about something to get you through a long afternoon? "Lift Away" has a solid electro beat that will snap your body out of its funk. It's a crowd pleaser through and through while still contributing something unique and original to the genre. But enough with the sales [...]

Hockey. Rock and Roll. One involves young men on skates chasing a puck, the other, young men with guitars chasing a… Anyway, what we’re trying to say is when it comes to hockey and rock and roll, the similarities are, well, not so similar. And yet, despite the staggering odds of pulling such a venture off, for more than 20 years, one American band, The Zambonis, have been showing that hockey and rock and roll are, surprisingly, two great tastes that taste great together. Over 8 albums and on [...]
![HOCKEY ARE BACK WITH FANTASTIC NEW TRACK ‘EXPLORER’ [PREMIERE]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4868550_lg.jpg)
We're so thrilled to present you with this freakishly flawless single, “Explorer”, off Hockey’s soon-to-be released album, Wyeth Is . This fine track is not only one of our new jump-off addictions, but it just stamped a new identity (and a killer one at that) on a band that hasn’t graced us with an album since 2009. Don’t be fooled by their past disappearing act, though. This synth-pop doting duo is more than familiar with what’s good in the indie-rock circuit, and have come back to prove it. With [...]
Been delayed getting to this new Weekly Roundup, so it's going to be quick, but I hope you dig it nevertheless.

Mark the 24th of April in your calendar folks, because we're putting on a concert at Pianos and would love for you to join us. Having been a fan since even before their debut album was released, I couldn't be more excited to announce that Brooklyn-via-Portland band Hockey will be headlining the evening with direct support from Monogold . Also playing are new favorites of ours, Black Light Dinner Party (who have an April residency at Pianos) and Late Guest At The Party . Listen to all four bands and buy [...]

I don't know what's worse: that this video was filmed in a pixelated 240p or that nobody tried to trash talk Folds by screaming, "BRICK!" as he attempted to shoot. Total missed opportunity. It also looks like he's playing hoop in a PDX park, but that could just be me. Anyone have an idea where this was filmed? This was nearly as good as Mr. T's center ice wrist shot at the Blackhawk's game the other night. Sadly, the video seems to be scrubbed by the internet copyright trolls, but we'll always have this photo. [...]
