The band Hockey recently released a new album, Wyeth Is . They're currently on tour and make a stop tonight at the TLA with The Hush Sound , River City Extension and Genevieve Schatz from Company of Thieves. Hockey started as a four piece but are now the duo of Ben Wyeth and Jerm. They have a soulful, and playful take on 802s synth-pop. When Hockey's Mind Chaos album came out in 2009, I was completely blown away with the unique sound this duo out of Portland created. It was this incredible blend of cutting-edge modern day indie rock along with the few good things that existed in 80's rock music. So inytiguing to my ears in fact that I listened to that album for a good two years straight like it was new everytime. I don't know what's worse: that this video was filmed in a pixelated 240p or that nobody tried to trash talk Folds by screaming, "BRICK!" as he attempted to shoot. Total missed opportunity. It also looks like he's playing hoop in a PDX park, but that could just be me. Anyone have an idea where this was filmed? This was nearly as good as Mr. T's center ice wrist shot at the Blackhawk's game the other night.
