We're half way through the first day of Lollapalooza 2008. Festival-goers have been streaming in since early this morning under a hot Chicago sun. In fact, lines to get in are still spanning multiple blocks. Anyway, on to the festival. Holy Fuck kicked things off with some electro-friendly beats under a pre-made Radiohead stage setup. Though the Radiohead fans who have been camping at the AT&T Stage since early morning, clad in eco-friendly black shirts, didn't seem all too enthused, which makes you wonder if they even know about the Canadian native's remix of "Nude". Black Lips [...]
Following up my post from the other afternoon [ link ], the AT&T Blue Room will be presenting performances from this year's Lollapalooza at Grant Park in Chicago (today, Aug. 1st through the 3rd) so get over to the Lollapalooza Landing page [ link ] and check out what this year's participants have to offer. The show is starting right now, so head over there [ AT&T Blue Room ] and listen along. I wish I was there but I am not. Eff it. I am going to watch it [...]

Time for another edition of our Friday Mixtape. Only this time around, in celebration of all of this weekend's festivities, we included a few Lollapalooza related tunes along with the normal packages of goodies you can expect each and every week. Speaking of Lollapalooza, be sure to check back to Consequence of Sound all weekend long for recaps, interviews, and live blurbs. We have stocked up on caffeine and batteries, ready to prepare you with the best coverage on the web! [...]
We realize not everyone can make it to Chicago this weekend to partake in the sheer awesomeness known as Lollapalooza . If you're stuck at home and would still like to watch some of the performances, the AT&T Blue Room is once again the place to check out. Listed below are the scheduled performances. We also included links to all the band's myspaces. [ AT&T Blue Room Official Site ] Friday (August 1) : 1:15 pm: Holy Fuck 2:15 pm: [...]
Earlier today, the kindhearted folks behind AT&T's Blue Room sessions released the performance schedule from this year's Lollapalooza [ link ]. Yes, despite all the controversy surrounding last year's Pearl Jam censorship/"where did Eddie's comments re: Bush go", AT&T Blue Room will again be broadcasting a number of this year’s weekends performances live, however, with the exception of Wilco , it appears that none of the biggest names will be participating in the webcast, which can be found here . Anyone caught complaining is a whining effer, as the first day along [...]

I woke up slumped against a wall or some kind of barrier. I had absolutely no idea where I was. You know when you just wake up and there is a short hazy pause, whilst your brain figures out where the fuck you are. Usually, it's your own bedroom and that's not so bad, the pause is pretty short. Sometimes you wake up on sofas or floors or in other people's beds, sometimes you're happy to be there, sometimes you aren't and you just wanna get out fast. Like I said before, I woke up against some kind [...]
Academy, Dublin October 20th.
As pointed out by Lauren on Entertainment.ie , Canadian experimental rock band Holy Fuck return to Ireland after their Oxegen debut, to play the Academy on October 20th. What the Holy Fuck is an experimental rock band anyway? Were Genesis experimental, was Pete Burns? Well maybe not Pete's music, but definitely his persona. What a freak. But we love him. Check out Pete at his best here: (Oh, and tickets for Holy Fuck are on sale now priced €17.50)

After blowing us all away at the New Bands Stage at Oxegen last week , it has been announced that the cable lovin' electronic Canadians Holy Fuck will return in October 20 in the Academy. Tickets are €17.50. Of course, you'd already know this if you listened to our podcast (as revealed by Unarocks ). Check out our recent interview with Graham from the band.

According to Ye Olde Wikipedia : The noise rock band, AIDS Wolf "didn’t come up with AIDS Wolf as a concept. The idea has been floating around in the public psyche for a while. In urban legend, wolves transmit AIDS instead of rabies; in depressing college towns, street gangs spray-paint ‘AIDS Wolf’ on the side of buildings." To find out what they did to this concept, click on the links below. Downloadable: "We Multiply" (box.net mp3) Streamables: "Spit Tastes Like Metal" (youtube) "Chinese Roulette" [...]

So, we're just over halfway through 2008. Six months which, in my humble opinion, have seen some damn good albums released. But looking back, they all seem to be from bands I already know. Established acts. If I'm honest, aside from Bon Iver 's wonderful debut , Frightened Rabbit 's awesome second record and the few George Pringle tracks so far released, I'd be hard pushed to think of many new bands or artists that have made much of an impact on me this year. The rest all seem [...]

Ok, lets be honest, all that excitement over Brian Eno reportedly playing with David Byrne at Austin City Limits has pretty much been erased thanks to the contradicting pieces of information floating out there. That's the problem with rumors. When they snowball, we get excited. When they melt, it's the equivalent to the end of the world. So before we get too down, how about we divert our attention with some more rumors that unlike the aforementioned one, are still alive and kicking. Head on over to The Daily Swarm this morning [...]
With Rage Against the Machine being the main reason for ticket getting, most people made Sunday their day of choice for hitting Oxegen . I however couldn't resist the lure of Justice , and headed down on Saturday afternoon with dancing on my mind. I was not disappointed. Highlights in the readmore ... We arrived to rain & mud, but thankfully it was the only shower of the day- we got pretty lucky on the weather front. First stop [...]
Basia Bulat Canada's music community celebrates itself with The 2008 Polaris Prize , having narrowed the list of 40 down to its shortlist of 10. Not always accurate perhaps, but at least it exist. The buzz-worthy Crystal Castles,Destroyer,Islands, the New Pornos, Tegan & Sara, Constantines ,Candance Weapon and Wintersleep were among original nominees. This is the same folks who overlooked Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire & Fiest in the past, but than again they frown down hip-hop superstars they pay to see. The 2008 Polaris Prize shortlist * Basia Balat - Oh, My Darling [...]
Sarah found this book The French Revolution a few years ago in a charity shop. It’s an illustrated children’s book from a series called the Hamish Hamilton history library . She brings it every month to L’Amour Electronique and we always make sure we show off the gory illustrations at any opportunity. [...]

Holy Fuck, Oxegen 2008 by Shawna Scott In nearby Newbridge there are blue skies and sunshine but as we descend on Punchestown an ominous dark cloud is awaiting our return to the site. We start to wonder if Saturday is really to be as nice as the weather reports are telling us. Thankfully, it is and with only one 10 minute heavy shower, the rain goes somewhere else to play. There is plenty of in-tent action today so we scoot off to catch some of it. After suffering a sudden bout of mid-festival [...]

So after all the talk and the hoo-hah and the scumbags and the line-up announcements and the pictures of burning tents and the hating and the rain and the mud and more talk and hoo-hah, Oxegen has rolled around again, boasting what is probably the best line-up of all European festivals. Those of you who have been there before and have been to any other festival other than it too can attest that as far as things-to-do is concerned Oxegen is severely lacking but nobody can argue with the quality line-up showcasing some of the best that music is offering [...]
