Was für Musik würden Discokugeln machen?

Collin Ruffino & David Gross from Home Video are planning to release their first EP after 6 years next month. The release is titled It Will Be OK & the new sounds have a thickness and complexity that was lacking in their early minimalist work. Here's a teaser that I'm sure you are going to love. It's 2 AM & I've had it on repeat all nite. "I Can Make You Feel It" | download [...]

CMJ is the one week of the year where I put on my scenester hat and complain that I have to stand in line with common folk (Syndicate, I'm looking at you! Hah. Just kidding). PFFFT! With that, here's a collection of CMJ nerdery for those unlucky enough to be commissioned to cover the events. :: Wonderful collection of CMJ 2008 posters . Klingt starkt nach: Radiohead, Portishead, The Cocteau Twins [mp3]: Home Video / I can make you feel [...]
More is always better, especially when it comes to the Friday Mixtape. This week's edition is particularly jam-packed, a mix of music's best new singles and remixes as well as a few songs from some artists we strongly suggest you check in. Add in a few special treats, aka Of Montreal's rendition of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (courtesy NYCTaper ) and this mixtape is rockin' and rollin'. VIDEO OF THE WEEK - Johnny Foreigner - Salt, Pepa And Spinderella words: Jamie Milton It's fair that you should all take a look at this new Johnny Foreigner video. It's the perfect example of how to make a video that's cutesy, slightly-twee and slightly precocious without going over the top. Since we last met Johnny Foreigner, their debut record was just about to be unveiled to the restless public. We loved it more than most records so far this year . Birmingham's finest are [...]
Forgot yesterday to recommend the recent Flashback Friday post . I'm old enough to remember when those songs were released, so bear with me! It's Saturday, so there might be a good chance that some of you are going out dancing tonight? If so, I suggest that you listen to this one by Home Video . Should get your feet started. + I Can Make You Feel It If that one doesn't work, maybe this one by [...]

image: Timothy Saccenti Instructions manual for drifting away is the best characterization for the sound that Home Video are creating. A terrific mixture of haunting vocals and gentle lyrics carried by the warm vibrations of synthesizer-melodies and an emotive bass. Home Video are Collin Ruffino and David Gross, transplanted from the misunderstood landscape of New Orleans and now living in the brooding brownstones of Brooklyn, New York. They've been performing one of their new songs live over the past few months and it's gotten such an [...]
HOME VIDEO. They are one of my favorite bands here in New York, well, actually, favorite bands, period. I absolutely love their music. The production is incredible, their music is so damn lush and emotive, it makes you FEEL. Amazing bass, synths, melodies, vocals, lyrics, the full package. I've been waiting for the [...]

I guess you could say that me and I Can Make You Feel it didn't exactly get off to the best of starts. I'm no fan of Radiohead , so it goes without saying that I have little time for Radiohead emulators. I am of course referring to the vocal tones of Collin Ruffino. That fact aside, I was more than satisfied with I Can Make You Feel it's slow, yet definite intensification, its seeming desire to make you feel slightly uneasy, and its nod towards the likes Massive Attack [...]
If you could hear a band and make the statement, "this band would be a perfect fit to open for Radiohead on their new tour", then you might be listening to Home Video . Seriously, these guys make some great music. Collin Ruffino and David Gross make up Home Video . They connected in high school art class in 1997. Under the instruction of an eccentric painter, who claimed to have been raised in a Louisiana chateau where servants peeled grapes for him to eat, they spent hours drawing still [...]

Back from Belgium's Pukkelpop festival. It was certainly better than I was expecting and fulfilled many of my musical fantasies. The following is a very brief musical overview of Pukkelpop. I will get my camera film developed in time and post my festival in pictures in due course. Thursday: Lo-Fi-FNK kicked it off, after two years waiting to see them, my moment finally came, enjoyable electropop fun, just need to work on their dance moves (hypocrisy) [...]

Sorry, I have been a bit busy, I apologize for the delay. I decided to edit the title a bit here because the "Leftover" was causing some confusion... I Don't Mind Trespassers William , Having [ Get it ] The Dead Tree [...]

Unfortunately, my well-laid plans to post Wednesday and Thursday kinda fell through, consigning the following tracks to the Island of Misfit Posts (or, for the benefit of those of y'all not actually taking part in the MP3 blogging GAME!!! call it, "Friday"). However, ain't nothin' gonna break my stride; we shall instead turn this into the Green Pea-Ness LOST EPISODE SPECTACULAR-AR-AR-Ar-ar-ar Diana Ross, "I'm Comin' Out" (Chic version) Diana Ross, "Lovin', Livin', and Givin'" (LP mix) Oh, deluxe editions - why in the world did I [...]
