The pandemonium and mass confusion that accompanies the opening of a music festival, let alone one such as Sasquatch Music Festival where you park in a semi-organized fashion in random fields next to tents and cows, is akin to very few other experiences in a lifetime. The herding, the terror in the eyes of lost souls, the cattle brands... Well, there might as well be cattle brands because, let's face it, as much as we all enjoy a multitude of bands playing incredible music in one of the world's most stunning outdoor venues, organizing ourselves on a mass scale just [...]

If you're lucky enough to be a part of the sold out 2012 Sasquatch! music festival, there are a couple of things you need to know and understand. Firstly, analyze and decide on the schedule. There will be conflicts with regards to which artists you want to see and when. You'll be able to find out schedules from the guides at the various booths, but plan ahead and get to the front of the stage by quickly checking below. You can catch performances which are happening simultaneously, but make [...]
HoneyHoney will be one of the very first band's performing at Sasquatch this year and I couldn't be more excited. They hold a special place in my heart hailing from my old home of Venice Beach. Singer Suzanne Santo and guitarist Ben Jaffe bring a unique sound with a skillful combination of jazz, soul, bluegrass and rock with a hit of old fashion wild west country. With fiddles and banjos just as much incorporated in their music as heavy guitars and soulful vocals it's hard to place this group into one classification. HoneyHoney's genre spanning sound is not something to [...]
Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: Honeyhoney Video: "Angel of Death" Highlight: "We are so goddamn proud of this video," Honeyhoney (aka Ben Jaffe and Suzanne Santo) tell Spinner. "We fought tooth and nail from the beginning to get it done how we wanted it, and to live out our twisted fantasy of being cold, emotionless, killers. It should be noted, however, that in reality we are very kind individuals who love and cry a healthy amount. We hope you enjoy." [...]
Note: Due to technical difficulties, photos of ALL these bands will come later. Is Indio becoming Seattle, and Coachella becoming Bumbershoot? Except, you know, without the umbrellas, because Coachella has a policy of not letting people bring umbrellas? Yesterday was a cold, rainy, miserable day, which after the hot temperatures of years past was actually one of the nicest ways I've experienced a day of Coachella. After wrangling with the surprisingly nice people at the Media Check-in, I showed up just shy of 1 p.m., where I discovered I had missed [...]

Who: Honeyhoney in the Mojave Tent In 3 or Fewer Words: Off your butts. Memorable Because: Back in the day, before every single band could be known to everybody before they played at Coachella, it wasn't uncommon to actually discover someone at one of the afternoon sets. The L.A. bluesy-folk outfit Honeyhoney didn't have that high a profile, and two-third of the fans in the tent were seated at the outset, perhaps killing time before GIVERS. Suzanne Santos got them off their fannies, winning the crowd and leading a [...]

My hometown is not L.A. and it's not anything even remotely like it. But the reason's I am in daily love with it are the same as the reasons honeyhoney love their new hometown. This morning, upon the discovery of sad fact that there was no coffee grounds to be found in this abode, I slipped on shoes and traveled just across the street with an empty cup to be used as a receptacle. It was dark outside - not black but blue up in the sky, the [...]
I first heard about this group through Joe Rogan on twitter, as he was constantly tweeting this band's songs and saying how much he loved them. He posted their song Angel of Death, which was one of the most relaxing songs I've ever heard. As the time came around for them to join him on his podcast, I felt it necessary to watch the show live on ustream, and that means a lot. I've listened to almost all 200 of the episodes and only made time to watch 2 live shows. I'm glad I did. HoneyHoney is made up [...]

"In a brave new world where vintage American has helped the likes of Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers achieve headliner status, Los Angeles duo honeyhoney ought to be rising stars." – Buzz Bands LA "…the common pop thread between alt. country, spaghetti western soundtracks and swampy blues." – Paste "…honeyhoney deftly mixes elements of folk, soul, country, pop, and rock…" – Glide "The foot stomping/sing-a-long/folk/blue s/country anthems have the power and confidence of an entire band, in a cute lady/dude duo." – inALLcaps.com [...]

Nine SoCal bands are playing Buzz Bands LA's "Dear Austin: Love, L.A." day party next Wednesday on the first day of the South by Southwest Music Festival. It seems like 999 SoCal bands are actually headed to Austin. When we started culling music from those artists, our uploader begged for for mercy. So we called upon old friend Kay Randolph (who had storage in his Soundcloud account) to assemble "LA x SXSW x 44," a mix featuring a selection of tunes that some of the participating bands have made available for download. Check out the mix below. [...]
Honeyhoney - Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe may call L.A. home, but the indie roots music, gritty alt-country fervor and Laurel Canyon folk/pop of their excellent sophomore album sound like they may be equally at home in the clubs of Nashville or Austin...70's California country/rock a la Buffalo Springfield and Gram Parsons gets dusted off for a hip reworking...Raymond Richards (Local Natives) produced // Release : Billy Jack (October 24, Lost Highway) // Sounds like : Retro-hued Americana with a modern, ballsy alt-pop irreverence...nothing shy or plaintive here as the mostly acoustic backdrop of [...]
A couple years ago, I was introduced to the duo HoneyHoney when I went to see Gavin DeGraw in D.C. with a couple of girlfriends. Say what you will about Gavin-he's too mainstream for some people, but he's a damn good live musician, and he puts on one of my favorite shows. HoneyHoney was the opening act at this particular gig, which was oddly dinner theater-style. You had no option but to sit at whatever table you were lucky enough to grab. Live music in a venue that sells $12 cheeseburgers and kind of looks like a...barn? Eh, not the [...]

Ten Best Albums of 2011 So, the thing with my list this year is that I've been fortunate enough to have either shared a stage, been on a movie soundtrack together, recorded an album with, spent many quality years as close friends, or at the very least, created some memories over some good times with all but two of the bands represented here. However, none of these disclosures swayed my opinion in naming their recordings as the best to come out this year, they're just all that damn good, and I just happen to know them. [...]

Sunday's selections: ► The rootsy raconteurs known as HoneyHoney visit the Troubadour for a hometown date — the duo of Suzanna Santos and Ben Jaffe released their second album, "Billy Jack," in October on Lost Highway Records. [Get a taste of "Ohio" and "Turn That Finger Around," and check out KCRW's post on "LA River." ] ► Big-time rockers go acoustic tonight at the Viper Room , where Everclear's Art Alexakis hosts a bill that includes Scott Russo of Unwritten Law, Max Collins of Eve 6 and Chris Taylor [...]

[In the interests of keep you up to date, here are three recommended songs from artists we've previously posted about:] HoneyHoney , "Turn That Finger Around" (e-mail required) — "Billy Jack," the second album of razor-sharp Americana from the duo of Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe, will be out Oct. 24 on Lost Highway. Their "Ten Buck tour" started this week and ends up Nov. 13 at the Troubadour. [Previously: "Ohio" and, from 2008, "First [...]
"Turn That Finger Around" from L.A. duo Honeyhoney pretty much had us at the hello of the first 12 bars, even before a word had been sung or the track had really dug in. Call it intuition, but we sort of felt that something great was coming. We were right. Taken from their upcoming sophomore full length Billy Jack (an unfortunate title for anyone who's been subjected to the 70's cheese platter movie of the same name), "Finger" both shimmies and shimmers [...]
