So, I've decided to do this facebook 30 Day Song Challenge ( you can see previous days here ) thing and I figured I'd do it here on ninebullets. Feel free to contribute your thoughts in the comments section. DAY 13: A SONG THAT IS A GUILTY PLEASURE: Guilty Pleasure is defined as, " something one enjoys and considers pleasurable despite feeling guilt for enjoying it. The "guilt" involved is sometimes simply fear of others discovering one's lowbrow or otherwise embarrassing tastes. " I do not like Hootie [...]

Natives of Sparta, New Jersey, and veteran rockers, From Good Homes, will be playing two shows this weekend as a part of their residency at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey. After achieving success throughout the 1980's and early 1990's the band split up due to artistic differences. The band was able to achieve mainstream success and several record deals with RCA due to extensive touring and a unique and soulful sound. From Good Homes also helped a few bands get their start - Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band and Hootie and The Blowfish were all openers for From [...]

I remember when Hootie and the Blowfish were bigger than sliced bread. It was a simpler time when robots did our bidding… when I could leave my front door not only unlocked, but wide frikkin' open whenever I wanted to and nobody would think of robbing me… when I could walk out of a store with my arms full of stuff I didn't pay for and after eluding the police for 5 hours, I'd be able to go home without a hitch… Yes, it was a simpler time. Hootie and the Blowfish's 1994 debut [...]

Decided to look in some new genres to try to be more alt, and stumbled upon this blipster bro named "Darion Rucker" who used to be in the ultimate buzzband of all time named Hootie at the Blowfish. Vibing pretty hard. Feeling inspired, like I am in touch with 'the heartland of America' or something. He seems hella chill, like he has lived [...]

A few years back it seemed as you couldn't find a festival that didn't have Jack Johnson's name at the top of the bill. The former pro-surfer turned rocker will hit the road again this summer for his own solo headlining tour in support of his fifth studio album To The Sea , which will hit stores via his Brushfire label on June 1. The 34-date North American run will kick off on July 9 in Hartford, CT and will be almost an exclusive to amphitheaters, except for a high profile [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Despite lyrics in their song 'Epilog' -- which point to the band hanging up their instruments and trading in their dreams for other realities -- God Street Wine may be staging a comeback. Two reunion shows at the Gramercy Theater in New York, scheduled for June, sold out in less than 30 minutes, leaving many fans shut-out and demanding more. "While we are blown away by your response to our reunion plans we are also very aware that many of you [...]

All these "trendy" bands today like "Wavves" and "Dirty Proejctors." They've got nothin' on Hootie & The Blowfish. Cracked Rear View ? Classic. Hootie's Burger King commercial a few years ago? Classic. Not even kidding. Hootie & The Blowfish — Time Amazon / iTunes Hootie's Tender Crisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch Commercial –Chris

Hooting@the Blowfish is a new band that is coming out with a lot of sweet mp3s and getting lots of coverage on the pitchfork zine. They seem to be a multiracial band, appealing to black people, indie people, alt people, and mainstreamers. It seems like they just want to promote chill vibes to any1 looking to chill, and they seem to be one of the largest 'chill wave' bands on the planet. It seems like they have totally transcended the now defunct 'glo-fi' genre. As you can see [...]

Darius Rucker is apparently out to prove that there is life after being a soft-rock staple/punchline: His country crossover is continuing apace, and he recently notched a second chart-topper on Billboard 's Hot Country Songs . And this weekend, the works of his pre-Nashville band, Hootie and the Blowfish, will serve as the inspiration for a jukebox ballet going up in Columbia, S.C. "I wanted to celebrate one of the positive success stories that has come out of South Carolina," Columbia City Ballet artistic director William Starrett said of The Hootie & The [...]

After speculations abound, 90s alternative chart-toppers Hootie and the Blowfish are vehemently denying rumors of a break-up in lieu of lead singer Darius Rucker's blossoming solo career. At least that's what Rucker proclaimed in a recent interview with Billboard : "We're still a band. Even if something were to happen and we didn't play for years, we would still consider ourselves a band. We've been doing this more than half of our lives...We have four shows coming up in March. But it was more the group wanted to stop touring every [...]
With all these holiday songs, I haven't gotten around to posting one of these for what seems like awhile. As a funny aside, when I was much much younger, I actually owned a cassette of Vanilla Ice's To The Extreme and (gasp!) listened to it! Leave it to kids to be completely unsure of what is good and what isn't. Want more songs from the 90's? Just find "1990's" in the drop down category list on the sidebar to find all the other posts in this series or just Stumble this post. [...]

Okay, there have been some comments recently about... well, read the title of the post and guess for yourself. So I thought it was time to address this issue, although not in as confrontational a manner as you might expect, given my enthusiasm for invective. I like - now prepare yourselves here - quite a few songs by the following artists: Dave Fucking Matthews Fucking Band, Phish, Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow, Hootie & the Blowfish and Bruce Hornsby & the Range. I don't particularly feel the need to make excuses for any of this, but I [...]

[MP3] Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide When the Dixie Chicks first released their version of this song, I had a momentary memory lapse. For a solid 18 hours (at least) I thought to myself, "Wow, they've really written a damn good song. Surprising.. It sounds so familiar." Then I had a double shot of enlightenment and embarrassment via Stevie Nicks. Sadly, the Dixie Chicks don't even take home the award for best cover losing by a landslide (zing!) to Corgan's version. Corgan's voice has always been this emotionally [...]
