Our lovely friends over at Urban Fabric just (well like a week or so ago) sent me this jam. Let's make a list of all the things I personally look for when deciding if I would play a song: Hoover? Check. Vocal Stabs? Check. Breaky Rave Beat? Check. Makes Me Want To Punch a Baby? Cheecccckkkk! This jam is just for the party and its fun as hell. I'm currently chair raving as I work on my office tan. Thanks homies, and keep up the good work - this track is going to be [...]

Not too sure exactly how, particularly after Friday night, but the weekend somehow got more nuts and hectic by the night. It was mental! Which was highly surprising seeing as I presumed that Friday night would easily be its pinnacle. How can you beat a night of hoovering the house?! It was tough to see how that would be topped. Saturday and Sunday somehow pulled a few gems out of the bag though. On a side note, anyone not in Ireland probably won't have a clue what hoovering is. Not actually a drug related term as someone in [...]

Chris From Australia! Thank you for your donation you wonderful, special person you! Nicci from down the street! Thank you for your surprise donation, it was completely unnecessary you wonderful, special girlfriend you! That makes for six donations in five days. We've almost reach half of my goal with ten days left to go! Please keep donating, friends. In case you have not heard, my roommates are moving out and taking their turntable with them, and I don't have money to buy a new one plus the new phone/contract I have to buy next week. If you love [...]
Nothing says DC rock like this fucking track by Hoover. over 7 minutes long ending in screams and agony!! I love this song. Hoover - Cuts like Drugs
This (these) post(s) is (are) actually an updated and much more comprehensive repost of this one and this one and should hopefully satiate everyone that's been asking for these to be reposted. It also serves as a reminder that way before what teens, tweens, and over-protective parents today think of as emo, the term was shorthand for emotional hardcore. It was not a dirty word that referred to the lifestyle that gets so much negative press these days. It did not mean faux-depression, eyeliner, bad haircuts, and just plain ridiculousness. [...]
Enough of this self-righteous ranting and raving (OBAMA IN '08!!!!). When the Shufflers see a Big Jack post, they want rock, not talk. Song: Balloon Knot Artist: 16 Album: Zoloft Smile Comments: Absolutely crushing heaviness. This is a band on the cusp of greatness. Bastard sons of Tool, Flipper, and the mighty Melvins. I took the sandbags out of the back of my truck this morning. We're in the 60s in KC and it feels great. I no longer need to worry about slip-slidin' all over the street. After I'd tossed four [...]
Hello my loves. I'm currently scribing from the kitchen, where Sari is preparing a massive Sunday afternoon spread that includes homemade bruschetta and all sorts of yummy snacks. We're several bottles in, and it's been a generally beatific day. Not sure what the plan is tonight, but I have to be asleep at a reasonable hour thanks to another voluntary airport run in the wee hours of tomorrow morning. Hopefully this won't happen again for a while. Now here's the music. RULES for uninitiated noobs : With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to [...]

The Sonics are rightfully considered to be one of the earliest bands on the family tree of punk due to their wild and unconventional style with bloodcurdling screams, neanderthal drumming and heavily distorted guitar. The lyrics of The Sonics' original material dealt with early '60s teenage culture; cars, guitars, surfing, and girls alongside darker subject matter such as drinking strychnine for kicks, witches, psychopaths, and Satan. They combined classic Northwest-area garage band raunch (see the first Nuggets compilation to hear other bands in this style such as Sam The [...]
A few odds and ends: First, a request to me regarding my post about the All the President's Men Comp . Reader Brian would like to check out the Hoover song "Breather Resist." Hey why not? Hoover - "Breather Resist" (mp3) *** A couple of thoughts about the Punk Guy's ABC's of punk. Not that he's probably ever heard of them, but I like early 90s band Kid's Meal for the letter K . These guys were from Copperas Cove, which [...]
Um, So I think my Three the Hard Way series fizzled out last week sometime when I was super busy at work.. SO I figured I would end it with my 6 top "Emo" songs.. like I said before, I don't really think any of these bands would consider themselves emo. And I don't know if they fit into the genre but it doesn't matter. here are my 6: Capn Jazz - Planet Shhh Boys Life - Fire Engine Red [...]
