The punk rock machine known as Pop. 1280 have released a video for their grim single, "Bodies In The Dunes". Maintaining the dark aesthetic of the song, director Jacqueline Castel loosley based the video around a Long Island serial killer who was responsible for murdering four prostitutes in cold blood and dumping their bodies in "heavy underbrush along a beachfront causeway." The Horrors were in Dublin to play the Academy on Saturday night as part of their Skying Tour.
Following South by Southwest, it appeared as if everyone suddenly kicked off tours everywhere. Chicago's Metro hosted some fabulous gigs (e.g. Wild Flag, Porcelain Raft), New York exploded with buzz bands, and California offered up two unique festivals (Paid Dues, Coachella). Chazzstock is a brand new festival with a great cause behind it. As a non-profit festival which is organised in memory of Charles (Chazz) Haddon, the frontman of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool , hence the festival's name. With their first Coachella 2012 performances a not-quite-distant memory, over the weekend some artists engaged in live collaborations to make for unique experiences in their second fest go-around. John Fogerty joined the Black Keys , Annie Clark of St. Vincent sang with Andrew Bird, and Thom Yorke came out during Modeselektor's set to perform "Shipwreck." The spine tingling magical moment of the weekend was during Radiohead at the end of "Karma Police" when the crowd continued to sing "I Lost Myself" after the band had stopped.
