The Killers are coming to the Horseshoe Casino in Southern Indiana on August 8th as part of the Summer Concert Series they have in their big, outdoor amphitheater. Toronto - Last Saturday CBC Radio 3 hosted a night of music at the Horseshoe Tavern. The night began with performances by Woodpigeon and DD/MM/YYYY. The third band of the night was Ruby Coast , hailing from Aurora, Ontario. The band formed in 2006 and are coming off their EP Projectable Collections , produced by Dave Monks of Tokyo Police Club. I have been listening lately to the Imperial School EP from Horse Shoes - they come across like bedroom demos from My Bloody Valentine, or perhaps a more dark-euro-pop version of Postal Service. I find the drowsy, unrefined boyish vocals and lo-fi sounding production to be quite attractive. This is so obviously a demo but there's also a great deal of magic apparent in its glossless grooves. The band are signed to Shelflife Records and it kinda makes sense given that label's affinity for mid-late 80's styled indie pop. Despite coming from Florida Horse Shoes have a distinctly British sound. Fey boy vocals and jangling chords twitter in unison and in the process reimagine a simpler time before the internet when a stylus and some plastic made listening to music a much more tactile experience. Field Mice , Innocence Mission , Cardigans , Beach Boys , Belle & Sebastian είναι τα ονόματα που κατονομάζουν ως επιρροές στο myspace, οπότε όλο και μπορείτε να φανταστείτε την ηχητική τους κατεύθυνση. Jacob from Horse Shoes ( Shelflife records ) + some of his friends have started a new online indie pop record label called Holiday Records. This is not an ordinary label in any way. Every friday, they will release a new single, and it will be free to download from their site. The three dudes in Orlando, FL's Horse Shoes are totally obsessed with all things Sweden. At least, that's what we can gather from listening to them. Jacob Graham of Horse Shoes – crooning, surely Horse Shoes are from Orlando, Florida. Now, Orlando isn't the last place I'd expect to find an excellent indiepop band – but, it IS the last place I'd expect find one this dead pretty. Horse Shoes' songs are dreamy it hurts. Songs like "Midnight Running Club" and the amazing "I Can't Decide" recall many a Sarah Records band, but I'd say their closest contemporaries lie somewhere between The Bridal Shop and Apple Orchard.
