While researching the forthcoming albums that we'd be playing the crap out of yesterday, we found out that the Canadian spazz-wavers Hot Hot Heat are readying their next full-length with pop guru Butch Walker , who, as you may have noticed, is something of a revered figure around these parts. We listened to Hot Hot Heat's glammed-out "5 Times Out Of 100" a lot when it came out back in 2002, but our interest in the band has waned with each successive record; if anyone can get us to keep hoping that these [...]

I started this blog on this week last year. I was a naive kid who had way too much time on his hands and had no idea what he was doing ( read for yourself if you must). Eventually, Music For Kids Who Can't Read Good grew into something that I felt proud of creating and I owe any success that I might or might not had to all you readers (unless you're a damn troller in which case, I owe you my bandwith problems). Last May to celebrate my 100th post [...]
NYC reached 100 degrees yesterday, and apparently today is supposed to be worse. I've quarantined myself in my bedroom where the AC is cranking on full blast. The second I step outside my room, I'm a puddle of sweat. It's quite gross. Listen to these and try to stay cool. MP3: Hot Hot Heat - "Middle of Nowhere" [...]

Hot Hot Heat blew my doors off their hinges a little over a year ago with Make up the Breakdown . Now they are poised like coiled pit vipers to release Elevator and set up camp on your alternative radio station. Their sound is definitely modern, without sounding like poseurs. They don't use any frilly stuff like synths or drum machines or what will have you, rather just straight guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Except they also have an organ, used to great effect on "Talk to Me Dance With Me" (streaming wmvideo, S [...]
Hot Hot Heat's newest single - Goodnight Goodnight
So, I booked my campsite at Lake Cahuilla (because the cheapest hotel in Indio, the Motel 6, was all sold out, but I kind of prefer camping because camping means you can eat s'mores) and I bought my Coachella tickets today (there's a presale on Ticketbastard until Sunday, password= GOBI). The lineup hasn't been announced yet, that's supposed to happen on Jan. 31, but I have faith it will kick
