I've been into Hot Rod Circuit ever since their Vagrant days, when i saw them open for the Get Up Kids more than 5 years ago in Hartford. The short bursts of emotive pop from their first Vagrant album Sorry About Tomorrow introduced me to them, and i became hooked on their earlier stylings as well - supremely tight power pop that will always have a place in my CD collection. They sort of fell off with Reality's Coming Through in my opinion, and i didn't even realize they [...]
O ne of the bands that I had the pleasure of seeing over the weekend at the Warped Tour was New Haven, Connecticut's Hot Rod Circuit . The band played old favorites as well as a number of songs from their stellar last album The Underground Is A Dying Breed as the crowd gladly soaked in the sun and the sound. Hot Rod Circuit's sound is an unlikely combination of alternative-pop and post-hardcore punk that is tied together with a bit of country twang that comes together like rootsy emo and sounds [...]

"I'm a fool for your attention." Emo? I thought it was just rock and roll? Call it what you will, but Hot Rod Circuit just likes to play music. The band's new disc, The Underground Is A Dying Breed , builds beautifully on their previous 4 releases. Having released records through Vagrant, Triple Crown, and Immortal Records, HRC is certainly a scene favorite. Check out the band on this summer's Warped Tour if you're so inclined to [...]
I was listening to "The Pharmacist" by Hot Rod Circuit today and it just hit me. I love the way songs do that. I've never really paid attention to the lyrics before but they were so perfect to how I was feeling at the present moment, I couldn't help but stop and be amazed. you let me down for the last time / truth prevails / and theres nothing you can hide / and i wash my hands of you [...]

This week's Contrast Podcast theme has to do with planets and other celesital bodies. The contributors scoured the vastness of space to bring you excellent planetary tracks. Even ex-planet Pluto was included in the bunch. I must say this week's podcast is by far my favorite one so far. Not only for the tracks from the other contributors (I especially like the Moonbabies' "Stars of Warburton" and Ash's "Girl from Mars"), but also beacuse I had way too much fun going through tracks to decide what to submit. I seriously had no shortage of [...]
