A twitter update from Hot Water Music has revealed that they have started recording their new album at the Blasting Room in Denver, directly following the wrap of Bouncing Souls new album at the same studio. Bill Stevenson ( Descendents , Black Flag ) will be producing the forthcoming album. This will be Hot Water Music's first post-reunion full length, debut on Rise Records and first proper release since 2004's The New What Next .
When we first mentioned the lineup for this year's Bamboozle , which is taking place from May 18-20 in Asbury Park, NJ , it only included Bon Jovi , Foo Fighters , Skrillex , Blink 182 , Incubus , and Mac Miller . Montreal, Canada's Pouzza Fest has relaunched their website for the 2012 edition of the festival, which will take place May 18th - 20th, 2012. In addition, they unveiled a few of the bands that will be playing including Hot Water Music , The Dwarves , Classics of Love , Kepi Ghoulie , Joe McMahon , and more. Legendary and recently united punk rock act Descendents have announced their first show in 2012, with support coming from Hot Water Music and Endless Monster (featuring Descendents own Karl Alvarez). The show will take place place at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO on January 28 2012. Tickets on sale now here Descendents are currently scheduled to play the GV 30 music festival taking place December 16-18 in Los Angeles, CA with Bad Religion, Social Distortion, and others.
The ongoing (and slightly odd) revival of the cassette as an audio format continues with two new releases via Doghouse Records . On Saturday, I headed out for the first music fest that I've gone to since Warped Tour and Skate and Surf back in 2003. I usually am not a fan of large music festivals, but the lineup of Riot Fest East was completely stellar, and I got tickets on craigslist for pretty damn cheap, so there was no way I was missing this all day punk fest (even if I was in the pit with a broken arm cast).Riot
One of the great things about being an old-ish punk rocker is watching your idols grow up along with you. Their music changes as your tastes do, both of you seemingly taking the same path. Now, the Floridian punk rockers have made the B-side to their upcoming single , "Up To Nothing", available for consumption. Like its accompanying A-side, "Up To Nothing" is as hard-edged and rootsy without giving up the group's traditional punk sound.
