Of all the year end posts that I put together on this blog, I always have the most fun putting together this one. Here's a list of a whole whack of videos I think you should see from this year. I wasn't able to put them all in order of favorite to least, but I was able to make my top four. 1. "True Loves" by Hooray For Earth . This video makes me think of Planet of the Apes meets Inception. Beautiful and interesting locations, great special effects and a perfect fit to the song. [...]

Hot Kid is that band that sounds like way more than a two-piece, consistently puts out great music videos , and will probably always find a spot here on this blog. Check out " Rip It Into Pieces "
bit too loud for our Monday AM lovings, the HOTKID 's newest RIP IT INTO PIECES video. wotyougot

http://www.myspace.com/iloveho tkid http://www.hotkid.ca/ I'm sure the obvious comparison for Ontario based Hotkid are White Stripes in reverse, they remind me of some early Blood Red Shoes which I guess is just as easy a suggestion. They aren't exactly a new band having formed five or so year ago, but it was their newest single "Yours and Mine" which led to my discovery of them. It's a gritty adreneline filled rock & roll juggernaunt which will blow the cobwebs off hangover and is highly recommened. Listen to it below: [...]
When These Electric Lives came down this past weekend, they had a new drummer we hadn't met before. Of course, we had known about the change in personnel since their coming here to play requires paperwork to be filed and approved, but Saturday was the first time we'd been introduced to the new guy. His...

Let's be honest. When any band decides to make the 12 hour trek from Montreal and include Hali on their tour, we should be happy. When a band decides to make the trek, video blog it and give a positive shine to the city, we should be ecstatic. So, the least the hill can do in return is talk about a new ( FREE ) record from the Ontario two piece, HotKid . You might remember the three-song EP – The Cost – that rocked a few faces off last year ( review [...]

Ok, so here's the second edition of our Friday show roundup here at the hill. We've slowly been stocking it with some of the more interesting shows taking place in and around Halifax, but if you have something we should add, let us know. So what's on deck for this Victoria Day long weekend? Well tonight you'll find Gus' chock-a-block with raucous rock & roll as locals Myles Deck, the Cuban Assasins, and The Gideons will be joined by Ontarians Hot Kid (this Cambridge two-piece has a song on their new record named after our town, [...]
The hard-hitting duo of Cambridge, Ontario's HotKid have just released a brand new full-length called Someday Somehow . Just in case 10 adrenaline-filled tracks weren't enough to get your ears salivating (...or waxing, I guess?) the album's price should ought to seal the deal...because it's FREE! That's right, you can download the whole shebang for zero spacebucks from Zunior. Just click image below and get your fists ready for pumping: Here's a track from the album to get your tails wagging, but seriously, [...]

We receive several submissions for Inbox Wednesday everyday and sometimes it's tough to sift through them all. After listening to a few it's interesting to see what pops out. HotKid is one of those groups that stuck out. Maybe it's the lack of synths, beats, or anything electronic; could it be that we've forgotten what rock sounds like...I think not. It seems that it's less common to come across bands this raw. HotKid is a two-piece; guitar and drums is all they need to make an impact. After listening to [...]

I realize that phrases like "next big thing" are thrown around with a lot of frivolity these days, but I really think that Toronto's Clouds (That Look Like Things) are one of those bands that truly warrant such an expression. Tuesday night was my second time seeing them this year and it's amazing how in a few short months, a band that was already pretty impressive to start with had grown to be even more so. For those who are newer readers of my blog, (or any Toronto blogs for that matter,) Tuesday nights at The [...]

web site :: myspace :: buy from Zunior It seems I've been listening to more swagger filled, big licked, rock 'n roll lately. First, Shelter With Thieves and now I am going to talk about Ontario's HotKid . This smoking two-piece uses big guitars, driving drums and the sweet sneer of Shiloh Harrison's vocals. It may only be three songs, but the cost shows that HotKid has all the ingredients required for a heavy rock bouillabaisse. In only 11 minutes and three songs HotKid hits you in [...]

( Out of Sound , 2008) It's rare that I really feel the urge to put on some fist-pumping hard rock, but when I do there's a shortlist of bands that I turn to. In the realm of modern independent Canadian music that list usually starts and stops with C'mon . However, with this latest EP HotKid have made an impressive bid to get me revved up. Brought to you by Guelph's Out of Sound Records , The Cost is a three song EP of good ol' fashion [...]
