Evan Nabavian sold more powder than Johnson and Johnson. Inviting your friends over to remix Biggie songs is a really dumb idea unless you're DJ House Shoes and your friends are today's eminent left field rap producers. Shoes sent Biggie Smalls acapellas to his buddies and came back with a pack of experimental remixes, a few of which sidestep the usual pitfalls of remaking classic records to great effect. First, the pitfalls. Blends and mashups of classic records are destined to fail because it doesn't make sense to “update” a song [...]

FUSE's awesome Crate Diggers continues on with a showcase of House Shoes ' vinyl collection, which he reveals is sitting at around 6,500 records. He used to have much more than that, but I'll let him explain why that number is lower than you might expect. Shoes also speaks on some experiences with some fellow Detroit natives, including Eminem, Kid Rock, and, of course, J Dilla . There's a pretty messed up story about one time Shoes got carjacked on Mother's Day, too. Watch the video below.

DJ House Shoes released a project that took some Notorious B.I.G. vocals and linked up with some friends to release a mixtape called House Shoes Presents: DREAMS – B.I.G. Re: Imagined . He decided to work with Nottz, Waajeed, Quelle Chris, 14KT, Knxwledge , and Khrysis , which then formed this interesting Biggie remix project. House Shoes mentioned: “On March 9th, I got a lightbulb. My light bulbs are usually pretty flawless. Sent a bunch of B.I.G. acapellas to the homies. This is the result.” Yet, what is [...]

Armed with a handful of Notorious B.I.G. acapellas, DJ House Shoes decided to gather his friends to create a mixtape. Working alongside with Nottz, Waajeed, Quelle Chris, 14KT, Knxwledge, and Khrysis, a Biggie remix project was born. Said House Shoes of the tape: "On March 9th, I got a lightbulb. My lightbulbs are usually pretty flawless. Sent a bunch of B.I.G. acapellas to the homies. This is the result." Lucky for you, the collective has made House Shoes Presents: DREAMS - B.I.G. If you're into XXL 's annual list of Freshman, then you were probably loving life this past week as the magazine revealed its picks for 2013 . They also caught up with one of 'em, ScHoolboy Q, who hinted at the formation of a super-group with Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, and Ab-Soul. Uh, yes please. Outside of all that, Rick Ross stirred up more controversy when he said his rape-y lyrics on Rocko's "U.O.E.N.O." are all a "misunderstanding." This, of course, came only a few hours after we learned that a Michigan radio station [...]

First things first, major props are due to House Shoes for putting this new project, DREAMS: B.I.G. Reimagined , together with some of the illest producers out there. We're talking Knxwledge , 14KT , Nameless , Quelle Chris , P.U.D.G.E. , and Khrysis , among others. They have all put their own spin on a Biggie track of their choosing, with House Shoes himself offering a flip of "Party and Bullshit". Chyeah. Download: Various Artists - DREAMS: B.I.G. Quelle Chris and Denmark Vessey have been making plenty of noise over the past few years with their solo efforts, but their fans have undoubtedly been craving a new Crown Nation project with third member MosEL. And, sure enough, it appears as those fans' prayers will be answered in the coming year. Last night on Twitter, producer/DJ House Shoes revealed that he will be producing the entirety of the new Crown Nation album. That's all we know for now, but that's definitely some good ass news. And there will be a @ crownnation [...]
