I'm a little ashamed to admit how I found this guy, but believe it or not I have Hollister to thank for it. Y'know how it is, I have this "friend" that was shopping there etc, etc. Anyway, I heard Hazelnut Moon playing and was instantly hooked. I was surprised that Hollister, of all places, [...]

The most popular question I get is, "Swap, I know you're a genius... but how MUCH of a genius you are... that's what I'm wondering." I usually pat the person on the shoulder and give them a sympathetic look as I reply with "Way over your head, my friend... way over your head." They'll give me an understanding look, buy me a drink, and then I'll do something stupid to prove that I'm actually a huge douchebag. Well, it's that time again... yes, somebody asked me the question and I did something stupid. Just HOW stupid, [...]

Howie Day began his career as an experimental songwriter, using loop pedals and digital effects to turn his guitar into a lush, layered instrument. Even when the material wasn't top-notch, his solo shows frequently were, and Day sharpened his act by canvassing the college circuit for years. Following his signing to Epic Records, he streamlined his approach, taking the spotlight away from his acoustic guitar and focusing instead on smooth, massively orchestrated pop/rock. In 2003 Stop All the World Now went gold as a result, although the album—particularly its third single, " She Says ," an unnecessarily symphonic [...]
My girlfriend and I went on a wine tour yesterday, and after the whole experience, we were in bed by 8:30PM. That being the case, I've been up for a while this morning, listening to the sounds of an early Sunday – the neighbors downstairs who are still drinking from ...

Describing his forthcoming album as his "post-coming of age story", Howie Day makes his long awaited return to center stage with Sound The Alarm , arriving September 8 via Epic. Our preview back in February hinted at some promising indicators -- and what we've heard from Alarm thus far proves pretty clearly that Day's much publicized personal issues are behind him -- and he's ready to climb back back into the ring with some strong new tracks. [...]

"The EP features a mellow, string drenched acoustic song we recorded in my home studio entitled "40 Hours", a more up-tempo, fun rock track- "Be There", and a moody atmospheric wonder- (also one of my favorites) "Counting On Me". I wanted to have a little taste of everything as a prelude to the full album which comes out August 25th. See you on the road later this summer!" - From Howie Several years after releasing his commercial breakthrough album Stop All The World Now, singer and songwriter Howie Day breaks his silence with his long-awaited third [...]
No idea when this is coming out. Should be this year though. It was delayed from 2008, so surely it must be a 2009 release. Surprisingly, 'She Says' won't be on it - it was on his first two records! And I don't care what you have to say, I still love 'Collide'. Great tune. 1. So Stung 2. Weightless 3. Longest Night 4. 40 Hours 5. Be There 6. Everyone Loves To Love A Lie 7. Undressed 8. As part of book giant Borders' slashing of its DVD and CD sections , the store here in Athens, Ga., is selling its CD and DVD inventory at 50% off. The standard pre-liquidation price for a CD? $18.99. So at 50% off, most of the remaining inventory was still as much as it would have been at Best Buy, Target, or Wal-Mart. In fact, in most cases the prices were exactly twice what they were at the Big Boxers, particularly in the DVD/Blu-Ray section. I decided to document the dregs of Borders' music collection to see what people weren't [...]

Well friends, it's Thursday already so that means it's time for our weekly preview of what's in store for Dallas area folks this weekend. After a crazy St. Pat's Day weekend, then multiple days at SXSW, I think I'm mostly looking forward to a more relaxed couple days off. That doesn't mean I or anyone can't check out a good show, however. Follow the jump for my arbitrarily selected list of local events, plus links to where you can buy tickets (to most of the shows). Thursday, March 26 [...]

February just flew right by me, almost as if it never happened! This is the last mixtape for the month, and I think probably on eof the best (with the exception of the Tinted WIndows track- I'm not entirely sold on the whole supergroup-does-jonas-brothers -esque-pop-rock thing yet, but it's good to hear some James Iha guitar riffage). New stuff from Howie Day and Phoenix and the title track from my most anticipated album of the year: The Hazards of Love , from The Decemberists. Okay, that's all I got to say about this week's mixtape, just downlaod the zip file, [...]

Mi son visto Gossip Girl , Smallville e Heroes . Dopo cena mi vedrò la 5a di [...]
