Seriously this episode had it all. I'm reminded of The Illusionaters catch phrase, "Prepare your mind, for a mind explosion!", after watching the episode Much of the time-travel sup-plot that we've had throughout the series is thrust to front and center during "The Constant", an episode which ties all the time-travel stuff together (including Desmond's past two episodes) and answers tons of questions (as well as leaving many more interesting Qs). It gives hints to the meaning of easter egg phrases like "Lost Time" and "Only fools are enslaved by time and space" and explains things like Daniel Faraday's card-trick [...]

Just in case you were thinking I started to enjoy my job today, I figured I'd let ol' Huey Lewis explain it for me. Huey brings up a good point too, backed up by the News: I'm takin' what they givin' (not enough) and workin' for a livin'. I'm not livin' all that much because there's all this workin' going on. I'm currently looking at my living room and trying to figure out how to move everything around to make some more creative juices flow. Not feng shui, exactly, but maybe sorta. I just need more light and more space. [...]
Below you will find mix number three out of five that you can expect to see in the next few days as a result of EAR FARM's Thanksgiving Mix Contest . The theme for this mix was decided upon by Matt (not me). As he put it: "as a sax player, I'd love to hear your favorite tracks that feature sax and/or horns". Perfect. But, as a one-time saxophone player myself, I was inclined to limit the below mix to songs where the sax really stands out. Not horns, SAX. [...]

MP3: Huey Lewis & the News - You Crack Me Up NOTE: Today's contribution, in his first FUCK YEAH! post, comes from Matt Giordano, who clearly is enjoying his weekend off. Are you? Fuck yeah. For my latest post I'd like to revisit one of the most influential bands of the past twenty-five years, Huey Lewis & the News . Huey and the lads are still touring these days, and what [...]

I have an admittedly short attention span on planes. Usually I zone out with music, taking advantage of the silent hours to explore the inevitable backlog of new tunes on my iPod. If I do read, it's often the guilty indulgence of People magazine that I only buy in airport bookshops or --even better-- Reader's Digest. On this latest trip, I found something much better. Da Capo Music Press is one of the finest purveyors of music books out there. They asked me if there [...]

American Psycho , starring Christian Bale as a yuppy working on Wall Street in 1987 who spends much of his free time murdering people, is not what you would call a movie for everyone. Nor is the Bret Easton Ellis book it was based upon. I haven't gotten around to reading the book, so I can't comment on how the film compared. I did like the film, and especially Bale's performance as the psychotic Patrick Bateman. I first saw it with a former professor, and good friend, when it first came out and I [...]
