As if by some great, mystical force, Podcast Jack has found the strength to create five video-casts for his new series. I think I might have linked to one or two of them before, but here for your viewing pleasure are all five videos. As always, you can learn more about The Best Podcast You Have by visiting its website. VOD 1 VOD 2 VOD 3 VOD 4 VOD 5 That said, how about [...]

We spent our July 4th in New Hampshire at the mighty Lake Winnipesaukee this year. (The Native American name Winnipesaukee means either "smile of the Great Spirit" or "beautiful water in a high place.") After a day of swimming, wiffle ball, and death defying stunts, we took a 9 p.m. light speed boat ride to catch a glimpse of the fireworks. Daniel laid back in the bow and took a thousand pictures of the show while the rest of us yelled, "grand finale" over and over and ate New England clam chowder. His [...]

Reviews on here of cracking Thrill Jockey releases are like buses it seems. You wait ages for one, and then a bunch of kids kids start laughing at your haircut and throwing chips at you. After the glorious soundscapes of Nemeth's Film come another couple of changes of style, but anchored to that key core of [...]

Every now and then, I turn into a character from whatever book I'm reading. Last night (this morning) I fell asleep with a book in my hand. It's been a long week already. I usually catch myself nodding off while reading and manage to acquit myself properly before slumber hits. But this time, the book hit right after slumber did. In the face, since I was lying on the couch. I'm about 50 pages from the end of Hide & Seek , Ian Rankin 's second Rebus novel. It's a relatively new edition, 2005, I think and features [...]

Das Baltimore ein gutes Biotop für interessante Indiemusik zu sein scheint, wissen wir nicht erst seit den diversen Posts über Bands dieser Stadt an dieser Stelle hier. Was jetzt kommt ist mal etwas anderes. Was bei diesem kommunikativen Prozeß rauskommt [...]
Human Bell - A Change in Fortunes.mp3 Album: Human Bell

Several worthwhile releases last week....... Things I've Heard: The Helio Sequence : Keep Your Eyes Ahead (Sub Pop) – The Portland duo doesn't get much respect from the indie snobs. Pitchfork compared their last album to Dave Matthews and invoked Blues Traveler, which doesn't make any sense to me (although it does make more sense when you look at these Pitchfork writers' Myspace pages, personal blogs, poetry and see what kind of music they're into making). Helio Sequence is pretty good. They play dreamy, well constructed (mostly) electronic pop. [...]
