Who could guess that electricity could inspire sound. That's what some engineers did many decades back and works with the simplest of contraptions to the most complicated machines to make some pretty epic music. If you love the nostalgia of the Moog you should check out Synth Britannia Documentary from the BBC. Here it is in it's entirety below. The first time punks and musicians really heard electronic music was via the soundtrack for the film Clockwork Orange where people were getting raped, tortured and beaten-up. Kraftwerk are the parents of electronic rock music which changed the soundscape [...]

In case you hadn't heard, I recently completely the epic-length Lost Turntable Guide to Recording Vinyl . You should totally read it. It's almost 5,000 words though, so maybe you might want to pee first. Happy Mondays Bob's Yer Uncle (The Grid Mix) Bob's Yer Uncle (Paul Oakenfold Mix) These remixes are from a 123 promo copy I snagged last week, they're chill as shit. This song is my new jam. The Human League [...]

Goin' Old School isn't a trip down music memory lane, it's a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia: It'll always come back to The Human League , that's a promise. Here's '(Keep Feeling) Fascination' from 1983's 'Fascination!' EP. From 1988 it's Coldcut 's first collaboration with singer Yazz in 'Doctorin' The House'. Horns! Remember when Prince wasn't batshit insane? Stuff like this happened! Here's Prince And [...]

If you're a bleary-eyed space cadet with fatigue in your eyes and a scribbled-out schedule of bands in his pocket, the Spider House has a good chance of utterly confusing you. On this particular afternoon, there was a Psych Fest going concurrently with another fest, and some bands on some stages were in one festival and some in the other, but both were kind of good, so wherever you turned, you'd stumble into a groovy band playing kick-ass hard psych boogie. The Spider House coffee house is a sprawling, ramshackle place, with half-rusted wrought-iron bathtubs and other junk yard rescues [...]
So, it's super sad that I have to put 2011 on the title of the episode because I was ready for putting this up in like August. That would have been a very good time to do it, huh? But I didn't. So, anyways. This is a podcast featuring a song from each blog that I followed on my birthday last year that POSTED on my birthday last year. I'm planning on doing it again this year, so if you're wanting to plan a special "James's Birthday post" then you might want to start planning now! [...]

Goin' Old School isn't a trip down music memory lane, it's a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia: This week we're kicking it TOTP style with three performances, first up The Human League in 1982 with 'Mirror Man'. A year later Yazoo 's 'Nobody's Diary' from 1983. And finally, 'Things Can Only Get Better' in 1985 from Howard Jones . [...]

fockewulf 190 - "body heat" (download) Fockewulf 190 were a Human League - Ultravox - Kraftwerk -inspired Italian duo who were most active in the 802s, although as recently as 2010, they released a cover of the classic Kraftwerk track "The Model." They take their name from a WWII German fighter jet.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE - THE LEBANON (DREAMTIME MIX) (MEDIAFIRE link due to server limitations) Hi Everybody! I got a repost of an older DreamTime Mix for you today. It's the 1984 single The Lebanon by British band The Human League . You can find the original version of this track on their album Hysteria . I combined the Extended Version & the Instrumental Version . The mix [...]
Although I'm no history buff, when it comes to music, I'm fascinated by the journey of how music became what it is today. When I listen to The Human League, a British Synth Pop act from the 80s who are behind the unmistakably catchy 'Don't You Want Me', I'm reminded of bands from today like Cut Copy and The Juan MacLean. So let's go back to the future and listen to this megamix I found. Human League Megamix

Happy New Year GS! Hope it was rad for all of you and you all found someone hot to make out with when the clock struck 12. So before we all get swept away with the delicious new releases 2012 is going to be offering us - because seriously, with the imminent rise in Oliver's amazingness, The Magician continuing to magically find his way into our hearts (and pants) and whoever else is planning to blow our minds, this year is going to be very big in music - [...]
2011 is over and done with, so this means, no last minute releases and hopefully no songs I have forgotten about - which I'm sure I have. I didn't do a top albums list this year, only because nothing in particular amazed me, however particular songs did. So before you continue reading onto my top [...]
This was a no-brainer really. Last year's entry into our Hall Of Fame was a toss-up between Kraftwerk (who ended up being entered) and this band. The band that practically invented SynthPop and in their decades long career have never once wavered from the path of electronic Pop music. If you are at all into synthesizer music with a Pop edge then everything you listen to owes a debt to The Human League . Sure, the building blocks were being put in place by numerous musical movements in Europe (including The League's own electronic experimentalism [...]
Let's kick things off with one of the biggies. Best reMix . Compiling 03-20 was tough, this year has been amazing for reMixes, it seems like every release in 2011 came loaded with quality versions. There were so many singles released this year that it was nearly impossible to choose your favourite mix off of. As ever, I'm sure there are tracks we have forgotten, and tracks we will be kicking ourselves for not including when they are pointed out to us, and tracks we will remember tomorrow. The winner though, and the runner up, [...]
