I was going to do a list of my favorite records of the 00's, but as I was getting my list together I started to realize it was kind of boring. Really, how many music blogs do you need to tell you the same thing? That's when I began thinking about the records that came out over last 10 years that I thought were criminally ignored, or just didn't seem to get a fair shake. So what I've got for you is a list of my most underrated albums of the decade. Every one of these records [...]

It hit 110 degrees here every day this week so far, nothing you can do about it other than post up somewhere cool, suck down some Sacto Treats (MGD + a squeeze of lemon + ice) and sweat it out until Fall. The lazy, stoned jangle of Human Television is an almost perfect soundtrack for this. Human Television - 10 Minutes Human Television - People Talking Download audio file (10_Minutes.mp3)

Readers will recall our Clicky Clicky 200 post a couple weeks back about Human Television 's transcendant little ballad "Look At Who You're Talking To," the title track to the band's sophomore set which ranks 86th in our countdown of our most-played/most-enjoyed tracks. In the item we speculated about the genesis of the very nice and emotive string arrangements in the song, which in our opinion seemed a little too nice to have sprung from the mind of someone unfamiliar with orchestral composition. And it turns out we were right. Upon reading our rank speculation, producer Chris [...]
The second installment of the Clicky Clicky 200 [ first post here ] jumps ahead 112 spots to 86, where we find Human Television 's "Look At Who You're Talking To," the title-ballad to the Brooklyn-based (by way of Gainesville and Philly) quintet's 2006 set. It's about a relationship-ending confrontation. This is sad. And it does a neat job closing out the album by repurposing much of the lyrics from the delightfully upbeat preceding track "In Front Of The House" [video here]. "Look At Who You're Talking To" also has pretty amazing string arrangements, and such [...]

For the past month or so, I would venture to say that new music has been somewhat nonexistent. It's partly the reason for the complete lack of posts and it will more than likely last throughout the end of the year. Not to say that i'm shutting things down or anything like that, but just don't be surprised if there isn't as many posts as you're used to. Sometime during the upcoming weeks, we will be posting our top albums of the year and possibly a few other lists as well. I've been spending the [...]

Don't they look peaceful lying there in the grass? I think I need to do some of that too. Elephant Parade is Estelle and Ido . This dreamy pop duo combines super laid back whisp-ish vocals with acoustic guitar and fun catchy Casio/piano melodies. You can definitely listen to this music while laying down in your favorite park, I promise it'll be worth it. Based on some of their show pictures , they sit right next to eachother playing on the same keyboard, which is totally rad. They toured briefly [...]
I know I didn't do a 'Way Back Whensday' feature yesterday. I haven't abandoned it after only two weeks, I just don't have the time to do both it and one of these countdown posts on the same day. Rest assured it'll be returning next week when we're be back to having very little else to write about. #29 The Young Republic 'Modern Plays' Download MP3 Website Myspace One of [...]

Hey everyone, Paul here introducing Chandler, our newest contributor to the blog. He's a buddy of Andy and I from here in Auburn. Along with Andy, he also has his own radio show on WEGL 91.1 on Sunday nights from 8-10 pm cst (i think?) called The Dr. Rock & Capt. Fantasy Show . It took a lot of coaxing to finally get him to join us, but we're glad he finally decided to hop on board. So this is the first of hopefully many more submissions from him. It's nice [...]

Pennsylvania's Human Television creates uplifting pop songs for the newbie hipster; nothing in their sound is shockingly experimental, but they still manage to introduce pleasant music that sounds truly original. These guys have that rare ability to put their listeners in better moods. "I Laughed" is an instant favorite. Add this Band on Myspace [...]

Over the past few days, attention has slowly been gathering around the suspicious practices of supposedly indie podcast Bands Under The Radar. The podcast is produced by Kami Knake (pic'd), a humble electrical engineer from the University of Iowa who parlayed her brief mid-90's notoriety as the hot girl in Steel Ring into a job as New Media Coordinator at Warner Brothers Records. Kami's critics accuse her of covertly pedaling Warner propoganda under the guise of independent music, citing her frequent inclusion of songs from high profile artists on Warner's roster like Chris Isaak, Tom Petty and Better [...]
Stoplight Sleep is finally back from its summer vacation! To make up for last time, but post will include more music and comics than a SS post ever has. 1.
