SST Records used to put together its SST bands on package tours and send 'em out to do Greg Ginn's bidding, er, I mean to play shows! And then a video of the show would come out. Here's the liner sleeve above for the full video clip below. Looking back on those lineups today, you're likely to think 'WOW, it must've been amazing to see these bands back in their heyday'. And maybe you're right, and maybe you're wrong. Some nights might've smoked and other nights might's been drunken aberrations or dope-fueled jam sessions. [...]
"I can't hear you -- literally."A hilarious exchange between two Minneapolis favorites unfolds in a new "interview" of sorts between Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn and Hüsker Dü/Sugar kingpin Bob Mo
Holy shit. Philadelphia super group (featuring Atom, Dan Yemin, Jeff Ziga, and Mike McKee) has finally, after half a decade, released some new material! Of course, it's only a 3 song EP, but I'll take what I could get from these guys.Instead of writing a normal review, I'll just post a few drunken tweets I got from my friend regarding Armalite. They get better as the drinks got heavier. -

Eyes closed, head slightly bowed, hands clasped, Bob Mould stood silently for better than a minute at the conclusion of Monday night's tribute concert at Disney Hall, letting the crowd's warm ovation wash over him. The 51-year-old singer, guitarist and author had to be thinking something along the lines of: What a long, strange trip it's been. Punk hero in the 1980s. Radio guitar god in the 1990s. Closeted gay man for most of both. Respected solo artist. Dabbler in electronica. Scriptwriter for professional wrestling (fer chrissakes) after that. And now, enjoying a career [...]
The Pixies brought the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium house down with the last show of the last leg of their Doolittle World Tour.

If Hüsker Dü or Sugar were before your time, do yourself a favor and dig up their old catalogs. Both venerable bands were fronted by Bob Mould, and an all-star assortment of music luminaries assembled to celebrate the music and legacy of Mould's vast catalog at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Britt Daniel, Ryan Adams, Dave Grohl, No Age, Grant Lee Phillips, Margaret Cho, Craig Finn and Tad Kubler of The Hold Steady all paid tribute by running through classic Hüsker Dü and Sugar songs. Mould is touring in support of his book See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage [...]
I've been meaning to check out Kicking Spit's "Pyschrockbullshit" EP for a while now. I brought the CD into work right before I broke my arm, and it sat there for months while I was out on disability. Now that I'm back, I FINALLY had a chance to listen to it, and let me say, these New Brunswick, NJ dudes don't let down. The 6 song EP is filled with fuzzy distortion punk rock, mixed with

Did you know that Bob Mould, guitarist of Hüsker Dü and Sugar, composed the theme song for The Daily Show? And also helped script professional wrestling events? I sure didn't! More importantly, did you know that Bob and Hüsker Dü did this awesome Beatles cover? You do now!MP3 | "She's Got a Ticket to Ride (Beatles cover)Interested in learning more about Bob Mould and his amazing career? Check out

[ In this episode of The Hush Now 's Memos Tour Diary, bassist Patrick MacDonald recounts the Boston-based indie rock quintet's assaults on Chicago and Minneapolis, storied American rock and roll cities each one. MacDonald's account of communing with the Gods of the Upper Midwest independent rock scene in particular brings a smile to our face. THN is taking the long way around, touring a large swath of the U.S. over the next couple weeks en route to a hotly anticipated homecoming show at Precinct in Somerville, Mass.
Renowned street artist interviews punk rock icon.

I remember in 8th grade this skater name Rusty gave me Murmur because he just didn't get it. It was probably one of the weirdest random gifts of music I ever got. The first time I heard "Radio Free Europe" was a high-school band covering the song then within literally a couple months I had the original version of the song where this whole world opened up I did not know existed. It was one of the signs I should quit my cover band and look for other kids making original music. That first original band a couple [...]

Foo Fighters & Bob Mould team up for Conan.

Poking around this old Arizona hardcore site called ShavedNeck , I see they have posted there a live cassette recording of Husker Du made at Tucson's Backstage January 18, 1983. Looks like all the files are still there. Hear what Bob Mould sounded like when he was young, angry and on speed. Shavedneck writes : "The band had just played in Tucson the previous December 28 and were on their way back from LA having spent time recording Metal Circus for SST. I'm sure that Randy McReynolds was behind [...]

Photo by Heather Kaplan Next week, Bob Mould (of Hüsker Dü) will hit the road for a string of dates, supporting his recent autobiography, See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody . Fans should expect a unique performance, one that splits select readings with solo renditions of past songs. No doubt that explains why he's performing at close-knit locales, such as the InterContinental Hotel in Rosemont, IL or the New Hope Winery in New Hope, PA. The whole tour kicks off Tuesday, September 20th at San Francisco's Herbst Theater, where [...]
