Temples - Colours To Life You know Temples, right? The psychedelic four piece that - with only one single out - managed to support Suede and The Vaccines, will be playing with The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park, and also at every single festival near you this summer? Of course you know them, but to call them "psychedelic" and place them as mere members of this ever-so-blooming scene is an underestimation. Their second single 'Colours To Life' explains in four minutes of gloomy vocals and bouncy bass lines why they're more leaders than followers. This relaxed take [...]

Today we flash back on another of our favourite labels: SUB POP RECORDS . They're responsible for the careers of a diverse range of bands, from Nirvana to Dum Dum Girls to our very own Husky . And they're celebrating 25 years in the business on July 13. That means that they've been around since 1988. Before that founder Bruce Pavitt started a fanzine called Subterranean Pop about American independent artists and their labels. He started releasing compilations [...]

★★★☆☆ House so creamy it should come with a napkin, topped with honeyed soul and pointing you toward pool parties sectioned off by velvet ropes, sing-alongs for you to splash around to, and a cast of bejewelled brass and horns players, pitter-patter percussionists, pukka pianists and pick guitarists acting like personal butlers. It’s funky clubbing of sweetness, sunshine and splendour. Can any vocal, sand-between-toes house music be too blissful, too optimistic, too in love with life? Should the philanthropy of Random Soul’s Yogi and Husky wear a little thin over 74 minutes, there’s a [...]

Listening to the vertiginous “Undressed” released a week ago, I understand why I became enamored with this Monterrey-Based quintet. Recorded when the guys were experimenting, still searching for a distinct sound, the B-side type of track exalts character and vibrancy. Yet, Husky’s sly way of sublimating '80s influences, exploiting vaguely familiar airs that are squatting in the dark corners of our mental hard drive, is somewhat dismissed in favor of textures and sound effects. Shrouded by echo, “Undressed” reveals an unprecedented level of dramatic tension through nervous rhythmic, incisive electric guitars and powerful interpretation. We must still acknowledge the singularity [...]

We don't keep our support for impressive young producers under wraps. It's better for us all that the light is shone down on these burgeoning beatmakers and their craft. Husky , 19 year old Detroit native, is undoubtedly one of our favorite producers under the age of 20. Over the last year he's continually impressed us with his work, which delves into all different styles of electronic music - from house to slow R&B to his now favorite juke and footwork. His keen ear for what's popular as well as styles that deserve more limelight is something that you [...]

Detroit can be the most innovative place on the planet if one knows where to look. We've got a burgeoning underground comprised of just about every type of music you can imagine, and while we've been looking to the UK for most of the new emerging styles in electronic music, the musty basements of Detroit and its bored suburbs are still a great untapped resource. Here's a tiny taste of a few of Detroit's artists establishing themselves as the raw and gritty brothers of future garage, the distant cousins of techno, or the new breed of whatever the [...]

Whether you like it or not trap is here to stay. Here are some awesome tracks released in 2012 for your listening pleasures. We tried to steer clear of the more well known trap anthems that came out of the movement. We figure Soundlogik readers are a little more seasoned than that, so here is the good stuff in no particular order. Bingo Players - Rattle (Luminox Remix) Play [...]

Another year, and another top 5 gigs by bands that should not be missed live. How odd that three of them came one after another, but that's the cool thing about Washington DC. Except for December through the beginning of February (the dead of winter) and June through August (festival season), there is always a reasonably good selection of bands coming through here. But that hasn't always been the case. I am often asked on my travels why I became a music blogger, and the simple answer has always been this: when I [...]
We're taking another listen to some of our favorite releases of 2012: Melbourne, Australia-based Husky is the creative vessel for frontman and songwriter Husky Gawenda, leading the band through mix of lush acoustic songcraft and dreamy indie chamber pop. Well received upon its release last year Down Under, the band's debut album Forever So was recently picked up by indie stalwart Sub Pop and released stateside today. While they recorded in a bungalow behind Gawenda's house, the band headed to L.A. for the final mixing with [...]

![[MP3 Playlist] The Chill Dojo #14](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4649791_lg.jpg)
Finally, the great milestone has arrived with instalment #14 of The Chill Dojo. What, 14 isn't a milestone number you say? Well there needs to be some excuse for this super-sized edition of 20 tracks, other than the fact that it's been an awesome week for chill music. Since December has finally rolled around once again, we'll call it getting into the festive spirit. This time of the year is usually the most stressful with everything going on, so the more calming tunes we can provide the better. And there's no better person to turn to for a [...]
We're very excited to present an exclusive Guest Post courtesy of our new friend Danny over at TRNSCNDNT, a tasteful, review-less music blog and one of the only sites I'll got to for fresh new tunes. As a 20 year-old college student out of Wisconsin (of all places), it seems that both PB&J™ and TRNSCNDNT [...]

Forget next year's trends, in this day and age too many will settle for just flavours of the week. But it's the releases that stay in your mind and playlist that make those tiresome hours digging through overprocessed goods all worth it. We'll take care of some of that burden so you can sip straight from the raw with Night Rumours : skipping the homogenization to bring you top shelf dance music. Nothing too obvious or obscure, old or new. Just wholesome unpasteurized goodness. This week's edition sees you through a healthy portion of house, techno, and [...]
