Right now The Hussy is on the last leg of their summer tour, promoting their latest music all over the east and the Midwest. Bobby Hussy was kind enough to take a few moments in between shows to talk about the tour, why they are on three labels and why vinyl matters. dane101: The Hussy had three 7"s out on three different labels before the release of Cement Tomb Mind Control . Why did you guys release music on three different record labels? [...]

Wrong/Right Sexi Ladi The Hussy is a rocking garage punk duo out of Madison Wisconsin that consists of Bobby Hussy (the man who started Kind Turkey Records ) and Heather Sawyer. Their debut LP, Cement Tomb Mind Control , came out May 9 on Slow Fizz Records and manages to pack 13 tracks of high energetic fury into a mere 22 minute ride. They have a KEEP READING »

The Hussy are a Boy-Girl noise band from Madison in the US, "Cement Tomb Mind Control" sounds like garage fuzz, surf trash and lo-fi punk of the highest level ... killer debut and one of the best albums of the year for sure. For fans of Sex Beet, Ty Segall, Black Lips etc ... Cement Tomb Mind Control LP by The Hussy

The Hussy // Cement Tomb Mind Control When I think of music that I want to listen to during the dead heat of summer, my mind naturally drifts towards scuzzy garage rock. I want something that I can blast in the car with the windows down and my arm hanging lazily out the window. The kind of music that has the rear view mirror vibrating when I look up. Thankfully, The Hussy have given me that with their new album Cement Tomb Mind Control. [...]

The Hussy are a Madison-based boy/girl duo who play no-frills garage rock with a sense of urgency and lack of restraint that is downright refreshing. With a string of 7-inches under their collective belt, the band has recently gone full-length with Cement Tomb Mind Control , and while it's always tempting to fall back on comparisons to established duos, the crumbs of the record that I've been fed suggest a sound far closer to, say, the Stooges or something accidentally omitted from Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic [...]

March is the cruelest month. We lay lax in a dead land, mixing memories and desire, dully stirring troops under a three-day spring rain. Winter kept up, covering the Earth in regretful snow, feeding a little life through the boob-tubes and itunes. The only thing that's surprised us, is The Hussy, and their debut album, Cement Tomb Mind Control , due out 28th of April on Slow Fizz Records. The burnished drum throne Heather Sawyer sits in, where basement cymbals break like glass, and double the essential [...]

Unexpected gifts are the best. Mixtape : Mighty Mouse - Upside Down Mixtape (don lowed)

Street Chant are great! They're one of our favourite bands, and this year they've released their debut album, Means , and played shows in three different countries (at least), including the unofficial CMJ showcase we put on with MME in Brooklyn in October. It was pretty amazing to go to the other side of the world and see literally THOUSANDS of good bands and have these three still be THE BEST, as usual. Anyway. We're real proud of them, and we decided to test their patience one more time and [...]
...I think there's some snow coming—anybody hear anything? (I kid.) But if you're reading us from anyplace outside of the DC/Baltimore area, that header's right—we're getting two feet of snow at minimum. (Which is fine with me. I got some records to listen to.) We're closing shop a bit early today but make sure you're back here on Monday when we kick off our Record Store Day [...]
So, it's our first 'First Date' for 2010 and appropriately enough, with ... The Hussy. (Here's to poetic justice.) The Madison, WI band will see their split 7" (with The Zygoteens) released tomorrow, January 14th, on Big Action Records and will be doing four release shows in Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Appleton. ...and they'll send you one if you impress us sufficiently in the comments to this post. No foolin'. Whatcha got? We chatted with guitarist Robert Wegner in advance of the 7" release: [...]
I like to think I'm a pretty decent gatekeeper of what and who hits the blog most times. Things need to meet a simple aesthetic or two and if not, we're not interested. Thumbs down. It's the TVD freshness guarantee—our promise to you that we won't be posting shit. Life's short, right? So, imagine my despair one recent morning when I woke to realize I'd done something simply awful the night prior (which didn't involve cross-dressing for a change.) I kid. Sorta'. 'Twas worse...I OK'd a contest... man, it pains me [...]

Originally drizzled at SomaCow.com In this episode, we covered the South Carolina governor's cheating ways, our manly things, Canada Day, Independence Day, and porn on the iPhone. I feel awful... Our listener Glenn Webber took over writing show notes for me, and I just now got them in my email inbox. They are lengthy and thorough, and the last two blogs really should reflect that. Good work, Glenn! So, it seems pretty lockstep around the show that cheating [...]

The Hussy's (shouldn't it be the Hussies?) is a six-piece pop/ska band from Glascow. I'm not sure if they have a proper full-length LP, but they do have a number of great singles ( Tiger , Napoleon ). This song, Sister Mary Jo, is from Necklace . Some good lyric-writing here too—it tells a funny story without getting too bogged down in it, you know? Sister Mary Jo, it's time to let the whole world know That you're actually a bloke and you like to drink and [...]

I am not the only person annoyed by incorrect apostrophe usage, and I have a feeling I'm not the only one annoyed by the nomenclature behind Scottish band The Hussy's . When it comes to their mini-album We Expected , I am quick to forgive them of that annoyance; grammatical peeve aside, everything else about the record is utterly perfect . It's easy to see why their previous releases--which this Japanese collection compiles--have earned them critical raves. Where, then, to begin? Lead singer Fili sounds a lot like the [...]

I had this idea to post a bunch of tracks that ladies and/or your lady friends would enjoy. I started picking out these here songs that girls might like because they make me think of polka dot dresses, headbands, and sparkly heels. Does anyone remember Mitsou ? Yeah, me neither... kinda reminds me of Yelle though, no? Yelle - 85A (dir) / (zshare) This might be the 'it' girl of the [...]
Enough bleeps... let's RAWK! Well, politely. And in sensible trousers. I've been banging on about The Wombats here since their first single, and though not as good as 'Moving to New York' or 'Backfire at the Disco', by the sound of all the Radio 1 play this has been getting it seem this will finally be their breakthrough single. Is that a children's choir I hear? Blimey. And I still don't

Annuals, Los Campesinos!, Canasta, Arcade Fire.

Ah, well last night was better than I could have hoped! Our team (assembled for £80,000) played Chelsea's (costing £120,000,000) off the pitch for all but a fifteen minute spell in the first half. The ground was packed to the rafters and rocking. Every player performed out of their skin. And as the Independent pointed out, if the tie "had finished on this pitch, there would have surely been only
