hello again. how are you? i finally bought myself a copy of daniel johnston 's classic hi how are you , and listening to it brought back memories of the first song i ever heard from this eccentric genius (some say mad man). for quite a while, i couldn't remember its title, until i searched through song list after song list, leading me finally to "careless soul", which i instantly recognized. one of the live songs included in the album 1990 , "careless" soul is an old hymn with a somber message warning of being unprepared to [...]

Another year brought another week of media hell to Austin, Texas' dusty, city streets this past weekend. Hundreds of writers, musicians, and publicists shuffled about in a frenzy, moving from one venue to the next bar, trying to pretend it was all some sort of a vacation. It wasn't too hard of an illusion. Considering the free alcohol here and there, the smoky barbecue pits on every corner, and the endless rows of pizza boxes, anyone might have considered it one giant, accessible party. In many ways it was, but that didn't stop everyone from punching in and [...]

Number 11 to 15 of the BOS top 25 albums today, stay tuned for the top ten coming up soon. 15 Duffy – Rockferry [ BUY ] Mercy may be the best single of the year, but is not necessarily typical of the rest of this disc which takes a slightly more low key approach and harkens back to 60's soul singers like Petula Clark , or to a lesser extent Dusty Springfield . Bolstered by solid songs like the the title track and the [...]

Contrary to popular practice, having a conversation is a two-way street. You say something and then I say something. When I'm talking you actually listen and then respond accordingly and vice versa. It's not a monologue and it's not simply an opportunity for you to vomit a stream of words that have nothing to do with me, the occasion or the subject at hand. Everybody wants to be heard, I understand that, and that's precisely my point. You get heard by me and I get heard by you, which means you have to shut up every once in a while. [...]

There are many great things about New York City. And there are a few things naysayers say are bad about the city. But there is one thing that no one tells you about moving to New York. The Mexican food here sucks. Now I know what you're saying-New York is the most diverse city in America with hundreds of thousands of Mexicans. I know. There's no sense to this. It's just true. New Yorkers do not know the wonderful goodness that is an excellent burrito. Hymns : What NYC Really Needs [...]
