Frontmanden i The Malpractice er Johannes Gammelby, kendt fra Beta Satan og I Am Bones, hvor han også slår sine folder. Debutalbummet fra The Malpractice, Tectonics udkom oktober sidste år, men først fornylig fik jeg lejlighed til at dykke ned i det for alvor. Det er en plade, der stikker i flere retninger, men overordnet bevæger den sig mellem en udtalt poppet side og en mere energisk, rocket side. Has enough time passed to make it okay to embrace grunge again? Personally, I never got entirely sick of Nirvana and actually find Pearl Jam 's later-era material to be quite good (thanks to my freshman college roommate for insisting), but all the also-rans? I Am Bones er for tiden på tour med Beta Satan i det ganske land. I can't figure out what it is that causes bloggers not to write about MV & EE and The Golden Road . The band's indie cred is legendary (living in a cabin, doing tons of drugs, not selling out to the man), for goodness sake Thurston Moore is the label pres at Ecstatic Peace , and both on tour and on the new record a certain guitarist and indie rock stalwart, j mascis, plays drums. After featuring Under Byen last month, the good folks at Morningside Records kindly left a handful of suggestions in the comments. Their roster balances between two forces of pop music: dreamy and power. I Am Bones does the power pop thing, along the lines of Figurines . I find it interesting that these two fine Danish bands draw heavily from the American indie rock sound from the 90s at a time when so many contemporary American bands lean towards the heady, arena-sized sound of Radiohead.
