Don't get me wrong, I think bands and artists should primarily focus on their sounds and not so much their names. With that caveat, it would seem that as bands (and artists) build brands, a good name would be even more valuable to their efforts. Yet, there are too many examples of band names that are dumb, mundane, and/or make absolutely no sense. And they seem more commonplace than ever. It doesn't affect the music. It's just a headscratcher. These artists and bands overcome their names with enjoyable music. Thus, the list of good songs by bands [...]

Omigod, you just have to hear this new Bob Dylan cover. You know that folksy ballad, "All Along the Watchtower"? Well some afro-headscarf weirdnik named Jimi rocked it so hard that… What's that? You've already heard it? You say it tops every single list of the best Dylan covers that has ever been made with absolutely no exceptions so don't bother looking to try to prove me wrong? Ah. Well,
Florida emo band Copeland passes by San Francisco with its "farewell" tour at Slim's, bringing along I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business and Person L.

From the moment I heard the opening of Copeland 's Beneath Medicine Tree riding along in a friend's car, I knew I had to get my hands on the album. With its melancholic hospital theme, it was a perfect example of therapy through music; it was there for me during some of the lonelier years away at college. I had the opportunity to follow the band throughout their career, from small the-floor-might-collapse venues to larger ones upon the release of the more pop-influenced In Motion . Admittedly behind on their more recent records, I still couldn't [...]

by teepoo I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business is a side project by the lead singer/lyricist and guitarist of The Early November . This album is pretty interesting. The tracks are cohesive as in they flow right into each other like one long track. Compared to stuff from The Early November, Arthur's side project is much calmer. His voice is the most dominant feature of the album and its very intimate. There's some brilliant accoustic instruments such as a really beautifully picked guitar, [...]

Ace posted a blog discussing the Amazon acident. I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelmingly positive response when the record accidentally went up for .99 cents last night. It was not intended for the record to come out yesterday, or for it to be that price. I have no idea how the mistake happened, but crazy things happen sometimes. [...]
