Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown headlined the Green Room on Sunday, and was the last act to play the tent until next year's festival (yes, there's talk of Oxegen 2009 already!). The standout was his closer 'F.E.A.R.', a fan favourite for many years now. There was no backwards bicycling on show, but everything has was fantastic. Brown even teased the crowd with a little piece of Rihanna's 'Umbrella'! 'Goodbye To The Broken' 'Street Children (Pity The Child)' 'On Track' 'Time Is My Everything' 'Lovebug' 'Sweet Fantastic' 'Destiny Or Circumstance' 'All Ablaze' 'Keep What Ya Got' 'Dolphins Were Monkeys' [...]

Mani tells BBC: *I spoke to John & Reni about it a few years ago and they said they'd love to do it at some point in time, but Ian Brown seems dead set against it. If he changes his mind then we'll probably do it, but then I'll be back to Primal Scream after the one year of doing it.* Download a Stone Roses MP3 at bottom of post. It's a pity he didn't put his foot down before The Second Coming, but at least Ian Brown is stopping a third version of the Stone Roses : "I spoke to John and Reni about it a few years ago and they said they'd love to do it at some point in time," Mani told the BBC. "But Ian Brown seems dead set against it." He added: "If [Brown] changes his mind then we'll probably do it, but then I'll be back to Primal Scream after the one year of doing it." [...]

Phobias are a nasty part of the human condition. They burrow to the root of all our fears and fill us with angst and nausea. But don't worry my petals - in this we ordinary mortals are not alone. That's right – even rock and pop gods have phobias. U2 had Vertigo . Iron Maiden had Fear Of The Dark . The Bee Gees had Claustrophobia . Black Sabbath were Paranoid . The Cure - if Lullaby with it's lyrics of being eaten by [...]
The game's on tonight. I love taking three or four hours to watch baseball -- the pace of it, the grace and the subtlety. I am having so much fun watching The Rockies' brand of baseball - it's young and hardworking and fun, and it's all coming together for them into a very very likely World Series run (becoming more likely after that 4th inning tonight)! It's a fun time to live in Colorado. They need to win one more against the Diamondbacks to go to the Series, and this Giants fan is cheering for them without qualms. [...]

Like EMMA POLLOCK last week, IAN BROWN is best-known for his work as part of an ensemble -- in his case, the some-would-say-seminal STONE ROSES (1985-1996). We'll leave it to others to decide if that Manchester band deserves its oh-so-breathless reputation. At the moment, that's none of our concern. Because, 'round these parts (2005- ), we like to live in the here-and-now (2007) (not true... at all). Therefore, we are all-but-obligated to pretend that the Stone Roses (1985-1996) [...]

I'm pleased to say that this week's new chart entries have restored my faith in the musical tastes of the British public. The last few weeks have been distinctly lacking. Today sees the Foo Fighters straight to the top of the tree with their brilliant offering Echoes Silence Patience & Grace . Even better is the new entry at #4 for the mercurial genius that is Ian Brown with The World Is Yours . Ryandan with the self-titled Ryandan enter at #7...the less said about that, the better. [...]
Ian Brown , former lead singer of the Stone Roses , is fed up and speaking out against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. His new anti-war song is a doozy and is called Illegal Attacks . It's no-holds-barred and features Sinead O' Connor on guest vocals. The single is out September 17th and precedes his new album The World Is Yours . The album will be available on September 24th. Ian Brown's MySpace . [...]
I stuck this new Ian Brown single into my CD player, and thought 'oh yeah, here we go. Another anti-war song'. Then I realised that actually there's not been too much musical opposition to this ridiculous war, and perhaps a good anti-war song is exactly what we need. Remaining silent is to be complicit in this murderous farce. Of course now that we're up to our necks in the mire (in Afghanistan

According to the NME , former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown has recorded material with a 30-piece orchestra for his forthcoming 5th album The World Is Yours , a follow-up to 2004's Solarized , which I quite enjoyed. "I started thinking about which songs I'd used in February to April last year, then I started on writing the music and working with my producers Black Ox, working on it all July, August," said Brown. "By October/November, I had a clear idea of what songs I [...]
Hard-Fi - Hard To Beat (Axwell Mix) Ian Brown - Solarized Broadcast - Long Was The Year Moloko - Familiar Feelings Angela McCluskey - Sleep On It

Today's entry is on the short side, due to the fact that I'm writing this at the office, in between work assignments. My home machine has started to act a bit wonky, with XP choosing to revert my display settings out of the blue and my external hard drive forcing a reboot on hot-swapped power ups. I can think of several potential reasons why these things are happening, but in these days of cheap as dirt PC upgrades, it's easier to swap in a bigger, better boot drive and work from a clean OS install. In [...]

"Macca, meet Monkey. Monkey, Macca." Alright, I'm back. Net is back in the residence, so my uploading capabilities are resumed, and you can expect plenty more good music at a plenty good rate now. While lacking net though, I almost let this story slip through the cracks, which was reported by the NME last week and got me terribly excited: Ian Brown is trying to recruit Paul McCartney for his forthcoming fifth album. [...]

Always a man with a short fuse, Ian Brown threatened to live the dream of many TV viewers and slap Steve Jones . Jones was interviewing Brown as part of E4's coverage of the 24 Weekend, and offered to move tables so that Ian could "perform his moves." For some reason, Ian took offence at this, threatened to hit him and flounced off camera. It can't be that Ian thinks his dancing is, you know, making him a figure of fun, could it? Ian, leave it, he's not worth it. Save it for [...]
