The very title suggests an inverted world where gravity now pulls upward, shot in reverse through the standard Calvinist lens, that we are pulled ever closer toward the divine and not the damned. On June 5th, indie pop mastermind Ian McGlynn will release his new album, Now We're Golden through Bailey Park Records. Written entirely on a tiny Casiotone MT-220 that McGlynn carried at all times in case inspiration struck him, the new album was put together spontaneously after McGlynn was able to line up time for Ken Stringfellow to produce the album. He decided to put his solo project on hold temporarily for some straight-up, hook-laden synth-pop. Well today is a snow day in my part of Colorado, bringing everything outside to a deadened, frozen, thickly-blanketed crawl.
