Cloudy Busey has been headed in this direction lately and I feel he finally turned a corner with this song, like he found a nice soft patch of grass to rest on and write synth jams. The Osaka, Japan solo project of silky-voiced Bob of Ice Cream Shout seems to be an outlet for whatever-the-fuck-he-wants and we've seen this over the years . Check out the video of Bob doing things while "Who Says They Love You" plays.

Like the title says. A mix for a friend. Bachelorette , Antwon , Grimes , and a bunch of songs that have either already made it on to monthly mixes, or probably will be in the near future. Stream it on 8tracks: http://8tracks.com/topomodesto /mix-for-lena [ cover art by Moebius (AKA Jean Giraud) ]

About a month ago Bob from Cloudy Busey / Ice Cream Shout sent over a new song and video, I initially dismissed it for it's different sound. It's no secret that I've been behind this man and his music for the last 2 years. The music the words and the images he puts them to are consistently intriguing and even by e-mail Bob is a mysterious fellow. It took me the full month to actually appreciate this song, it's different from the past work but still holds his signature wispy, charming vocals. I'll continue to appreciate this faceless [...]

I want to believe that 2012 will bring me many things. Since immeasurable wealth and a new liver seem somewhat unlikely, I'm going to move to my #3 wish, a new full-length Ice Cream Shout record. To that end, and without heeding the advice of my lawyers, I continue to pester Bob Willey with electronic threats and promises. In his defense, Willey is a busy guy, living large as an expat in Japan, but he was good enough to share Up To You (If You [...]

When one thinks of indie hotbeds, Japan rarely comes to mind. But what they might lack in output, the Japanese make up for in quality. Cloudy Bussey is the solo project of Bob of Kansai, Japan's Ice Cream Shout , one of my favorite discoveries of 2010. Bob calls the project the "orphan" tracks that didn't quite fit in with what Ice Cream Shout was doing. Thank goodness these weren't cast aside, though. "Broken by Inertia" is the type of spacey, anthemic music that is perfect for summertime fist-pumping. No matter how many times I listen to this song, it still [...]

It's been forever since we've heard a peep from Bob Willey , the expatriate mastermensch behind Ice Cream Shout and Cloudy Busey, but he checked in yesterday to assure us that 1) he was alive and well, and 2) that a new Ice Cream Shout record is coming. He also shared Broken By Inertia , a buzzy new wave staple in the ICS live set, but a tune of which an official recording had never been completed. Seems Willey not only got a bug up his butt to finish the song [...]

I may or may not be the first to post this, either way I was so stoked about the email I received from Bob of Cloudy Busey (from the band Ice Cream Shout ) I jumped out of my sick-bed in a fit of excitement. Both of the past songs sent to me from Bob's projects ended up being my favorite songs of 2010 (which we never posted). This song, which includes their first original video, takes a beat driven side as opposed to the light and airiness of the past two. Its [...]
Today my son Elias turns 2. Kind of unbelievable how fast time flies. He is pure happiness all the time and has changed my life completely (in a good way of course). Over the past few weeks... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Creating a gentle surf-rock sound much like Tattooed Tears by Ice Cream Shout , "Batman" leaves me feeling a little warm and fuzzy, perfect for a lazy, Sunday winter day. The group has been creating music since 2009, releasing their debut album [...]

Kansai, Japan's Ice Cream Shout and sister project Cloudy Busey are two of my favorite discoveries of 2010. Luckily, sonic mastermind Robert Willey assures us that he has no signs of letting up in the new year, and what's more, has some friendly, free advice for fading hip=hop heavyweight 50 Cent. It's the end of the year. So, kind of a time for reflection on the year past, as well as a celebration of it's ending and the new year to come. I lost some important people from my life this year. Nothing so dramatic as deaths, but just… Movings apart. It served as a reminder of how rare those that unflinchingly support all the little crazy things that I do, those core that are still my close friends after all these years, and how treasured they are by me. So when I was approaching [...]

Ed. Note: Yesterday we welcomed the lovely McKee Floyd into the fold. Today, we say hello to Sean Weathersby, A.K.A. Griggs. Much like McKee, Sean will be tapping into the D.C. scene, as well as just giving us his fresh take on the music scene. Welcome Sean! Hi. I'm Sean, and I guess I'm the newest contributor here at ATG. I'm a 23-year-old Mississippian who somehow found himself at school at Bowdoin College in Maine and is now searching for a happy medium somewhere in the DC area. Right now I'm living in [...]

The southern hemisphere "blogging scene" isn't exactly thriving, which is why it's weird that one of our favourite blogs on the whole internet is from Sydney. Jarred Beeler started Life: Aquatic in March this year but it's taken him no time to establish a unique and interesting voice in the blogosphere, which is no small deal. You can put it down to the amazing job he's done of digging up obscure & beautiful gems and, more generally, the vibe he's curated at Life: Aquatic - minimalist, dreamy, nostalgic. Jarred did us a solid and compiled [...]

The song of the day is an amazing french touch track by Ice Cream Shout tittle Tattooed Tears it was remixed by the Metro Tune and it is amazing so give it a listen and enjoy.
There's been a seemingly endless flow of good remixes attacking the blogosphere as of late. Nothing high profile or anything, but definitely some exceptional reworks of some equally... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Forget X Japan. Forget Hizamakura Lap Pillows. Even forget virtual nomikai , though, I can get behind that one. MOKB has been mighty vocal in our support of Ice Cream Shout , and while we're waiting patiently for the follow up to Cups , Bob, from the band, has been kind enough to share a song that didn't make the ICS cut, and as a result ended up in the repertoire of his pseudo-band, Cloudy Busey (say it out loud, fast). He's even been kind enough to [...]
