There are some Golden Age rap dudes that shall pretty much keep their herohill creds no matter how corny they get in the present day. Ice Cube is pretty much the perfect example of this. I know you know the deal with Cube, there's few rappers who have done as well for themselves 20 years on from the heyday of their rappin' career, but there also aren't many who are making kids movies these days . So yeah, I know the deal with Cube, but you have to keep [...]
G5 for the Weekend Toro y Moi's "Low Shoulder" video gave me the willies I played with Rap Genius' Rap Map for half an hour. The map marks places across the US that are mentioned or eluded to in popular rap music. Good work, internet Nathan Rabin's interview with Ice Cube focuses on his film work, but it's a good read nonetheless Bono: U2 is putting together a "club-sounding" album . As someone who remembers Pop , I [...]

The pic speaks volumes, gotta the love the 'cube in his more radical days. Many thanks to A Fist in the Face of God for compliling such a mix... bop, bop... West Coast Gangsta mix 1. c.i.a. - "jus 4 the cash" (download) Around the same time he was recording NWA And the Posse with NWA , Ice Cube recorded this EP with the C.I.A. (Cru' In Action). C.I.A. featured the legendary Dr. Dre on production, and vocal duties were split between Ice Cube , K-Dee & Sir Jinx . I haven't been able to track down a better quality version of this track yet, [...]

Before Ice Cube was acting in children's movies, he was the head lyricist of the most notorious hip-hop group to ever do it, N.W.A. After Cube split from the legendary crew, he launched a successful, and controversial solo career that has featured 9 solo albums, and countless guest features with every major player in hip-hop. Cube's versatility has allowed him to remain relevant as hip-hop has drastically evolved since the 1980s. On "It Was a Good Day", Cube exhibits another aspect that has made him a legend in the game; storytelling. The inspiration was [...]

Depending who you ask, Ice Cube is the greatest West Coast artist of all time. That may or may not be true, but Doughboy is one of the select rappers to crossover into pop culture with massive success. Even as Craig has drifted more and more into Hollywood, he's always managed to stay true to the roots that made him a star in the first place: Hip-Hop. I Am The West is Triple X's (it's great this guy has so many names) forthcoming album [...]

Here's the first visual from Ice Cube's upcoming I am the West album for the "Drink the Kool-Aid" single. Drink tha Kool-Aid!

"Kool Aid," the second single from the upcoming record, is our best glimpse into the largely under wraps project. "I Rep That West" (the 1st single) was basically a street single, [...]

![[Hip/Hop] Ice Cube – Drink The Kool-Aid](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2713385_lg.jpg)
Since leaving the massively influential N.W.A in 1989, Ice Cube has done a lot of things that would take away from his early reputation as one of the founders of gangster-rap. The most blatant, being Columbia Pictures' family-friendly movie Are We There Yet?, is a far cry from Ice Cube's ferocious lyricism on Fuck Tha Police. On Drink The Kool-Aid, the listener hears the aggression that originally made Ice Cube famous but, instead of lashing out against prejudice and injustice, he knocks established stars in modern hip-hop. By knocking Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and the "New" [...]

This goes out to those who give Lil B monetary support, think anything Rick Rozay is doing is prolific or only buy Young Money CDs. You done drunk that drank baby, and you're a lost cause. The Don Mega dares you to learn how a real O.G. handles the wheel and take a sip from his pimp cup. Ice Cube is flagrant. He probably pissed in it. I Am The West debuts September 28th, 2010. Throw your W's up. Ice Cube - "Drink The Kool-Aid" [...]

Have you ever wondered about Ice Cube's views on the role of the family? Or how about what he thinks about home schooling? Of course you haven't. But if you've got a spare 20 minutes, why not listen to Cube drop some science on these subjects, and others which will undoubtedly be of far more interest (the birth and death of N.W.A., or how he was drafted into Boyz In Da Hood , for example). Cube recently sat down at Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem with Hot 97's Angie Martinez, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and the [...]

A few weeks ago, a random appearance of an Ice Cube track brought a revitalized euphoria in many longtime fans but also shed light on the fact that since the explosion of online media, O'Shea Jackson has become less known for his musical achievements and more for his Hollywood endeavors. To many, Ice Cube ranks high in the all-time MC chart which should go without question. But to several others, figuring out how this full-time actor, part-time rapper is truly a legendary has been a challenge, which is understandable as well. For [...]

I was at a cookout yesterday and Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff's "Summertime" came on. There really is no such thing as having an event during the season without hearing this and other classic summertime songs. So, right on time for the 4th, Mick Boogie Undrcrwn and Jeff teamed up to create this mixtape with almost 50 hits from De la Soul to Quincy Jones. Audible goodness for days. Check out the tracklist after the jump. Faze-O-Riding High Download audio [...]

100b

Once upon a long, long time ago, I was sent out this book to have a read and review. Then there was all this real life stuff and 100b was pretty much abandoned, book reviewing and all. Many apologies to all involved and I'd almost call it too late to bother, but a deal is a deal. Plus, I just found out that this book will be newly available in paperback in October, so I'm going to call it better late than never. The book in question is Robert Hilburn's Corn Flakes [...]
